Identification
At the farm foundation, the company invested money in land, materials, food, equipments and marketing. We construct one covered farm and one uncovered farm. In spring , snails are reproducing, and so we start our activity.
In present, we take care about the snails, we feed them, and we colect the new ones when they are reproducing, and we colect the mature ones to sell them farther or to prepare their meet for personal production.
It is more rewarding to sell the snails farther because there are many countries with economic power and with a high money value that offer a very good price for each snail.
Porter’s Five Forces of Competition Framework
Rivalry• Because is a new and
profitable business, and you need a low initial investment, we have a lot of potential competitors.
• Our main cometitors are :Ferma Melci TimisoaraHelix Group AradLa Casa della Lumaca di Cagnassola GianniSC Rolux SRL
Threat of substitutes• After a test we have
made, we found that our consumers often substitute snail meat with fish meat.
• It is a serios problem because fish market is more developed
Buyer power• Most restaurants are
prepared to order 20-30 dozen a week, although there are some that require more.
• In Romania are a few restaurants who require snails meat, and it is financially disadvantageous;but in other countries the demand is high and the price offered is high as well.
Supplier power• We have a big power to
produce a lot of dozen of snails per year, because our farm extends over a large area, the climate favor us (comparing with others countries climate), and in winter we use the covered farm, so we operate all year.
• We do not have many competitive suppliers, but national customers are weak.
Barriers to entry• Geographical location :You need a settlement ofthe plains, unpolluted,
andto foster the humidity. If you do not meet these criteria, your business
may prone to banckrupcy
