Hello Southwest Chapter.

I hope everyone had a Happy Easter and got to spendtime with family. Someone a lot smarter than meonce wrote “time with family isn’t spent, it’s

invested”.

It’s time for all members to consider serving theChapter by running for one of the Executive Board positions- President, Vice-President, Secretary andTreasurer. It’s only a one-year commitment andyour Chapter needs you and your energy to get the ball rolling again. In addition to the executive positions, we have several appointed positions thatthe new Board will be looking to fill. If you’reinterested, talk to your current Board Members to

find out what the various positions are all about.

Mark your calendars for this Fall- October 7-9. OurChapter, along with Estero River, West Coast, GatorAlley and Peace River are organizing a State partywhich will hopefully be well-attended and will bringsome much-needed revenue into the State treasury.I should have more details for the next Chaptermeeting.

Remember that our April Chapter meeting will be

held at Six Bends Harley-Davidson at 10:30,Sunday, April 17. I had the opportunity to meet theowner of Jersey’s Sports Café after our Marchmeeting and thanked him for having hosted ourmeetings for the past several months. If you’relooking for a place to have lunch or to watch a ballgame, please consider Jersey’s.

Legislative Report by Frankie Kennedy

Urge Congress to protect motorcycle

racing. Defend your right to race!

Members of both chambers of Congress have introduced versions of a bill that would prevent the U.SEnvironmental Protection Agency from regulating the conversion of street motorcycles and other motor vehicle

into competition-only racers. The EPA failed to provide proper notice of this regulation, including it in an

unrelated heavy-duty-truck regulation. The proposed rule would hurt thousands of amateur and professiona

motorcycle racing enthusiasts and the millions of fans who enjoy motorcycle competition.

The bi-partisan Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports Act of 2016 (H.R. 4715 and S. 2659, RPM Act) woul

ensure that converting motor vehicles into competition-only vehicles remains legal. Street motorcycles are

considered motor vehicles under the Clean Air Act.

The RPM Act was introduced in the House by U.S. Reps. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.), Henry Cuellar (D-TexasRichard Hudson (R-N.C.), Bill Posey (R-Fla.) and Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.).

The Senate version was introduced by U.S. Sens. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Thom

Tillis (R-N.C.) and Dean Heller (R-N.C.).

The act states that it was the clear intent of Congress when passing and amending the Clean Air Act that moto

vehicles, including motorcycles, used solely for competition would be exempt from the Clean Air Act’

prohibitions against modifying emission control devices.

The American Motorcyclist Association supports the bills and their protections for amateur and professiona

racing enthusiasts.

Tell your senators and representatives that you support S. 2659 and H.R. 4715. Send a prewritten email by usin

the easy-to-use AMA Action Center.

The AMA is coordinating efforts with the Specialty Equipment Market Association and other racing sanctionin

bodies in support of the RPM Act. SEMA represents vehicle aftermarket manufacturers, marketers and

distributers.

Now more than ever, it is crucial that you and your riding friends become members of the AMA to help protect

our riding freedoms. More members mean more clout against the opponents of motorcycling. That support wihelp fight for your rights – on the road, trail and racetrack and in the halls of government. If you are a motorcycl

The Story Behind the “First Messiah’sMessenger ”

Dear Fellow ABATE Members,

This photograph is of “Sister” Aimee Semple

Mc Pherson, an early 20th century evangelist.Sister Aimee was a pioneer of women inreligion. Having experienced a profoundreligious conversion at age 17, Aimee began preaching across the United States and later,

the world. In 1918, she established her base in Los Angeles, Calif., where in 1923, the 5,300 seat Angelus

Temple was dedicated and became the center of her revival, healing and benevolent ministries. She was the firstwoman to own and operate a Christian radio station. Her sermons were the first to incorporate the contemporarycommunications of that day into her preaching of the Gospel. From Angelus Temple she performed an extensivesocial ministry, providing hot means for more than 1.5 million people during the Great Depression. Shesummarized her message into four major points known as "The Foursquare Gospel," and founded adenomination called The Foursquare Church.

Her illustrated sermons attracted many from the entertainment industry, looking to see a “show” that rivaled

what Hollywood had to offer. These famous stage products drew people who would never have thought to entera church, and then presented them with the message of salvation. Aimee believed that the Gospel was to be presented at every opportunity and used worldly means at her disposal to present the Gospel to as many people

as possible.

Aimee once wrote, “You don’t need to be an orator. What God wants are plain people with the Good News in

their hearts who are willing to go and tell it to others. The love of winning souls for Jesus Christ sets a fire burning in one’s bones. Soul winning is the most important thing in the world. All I have is on the altar for theLord, and while I have my life and strength, I will put my whole being into the carrying out of this GreatCommission.”

Sister McPherson, as she was affectionately called by her constituents, went to be with the Lord, September 27,1944, while conducting a revival service in Oakland, Calif. Memorial services were held on her birthday,October 9th, at Angelus Temple.

From its beginning at Angelus Temple, The Foursquare Church has now grown to include more than 55,000churches worldwide. There are currently more than 10 million members in 149 countries around the globe. It presently ranks as one of the three or four most distinguished branches of Pentecostalism.

About the Photograph:On March 15, 1925, Sister Aimee presented the sermon "Arrested for Speeding" at Angelus Temple. She worea policeman's uniform and used the Indian motorcycle in the picture. The Indian Motorcycle Company loanedher the new motorcycle for the evening.

Contrary to stories being told and accounts written on several Internet sites, Sister Aimee did not ride the

motorcycle inside Angelus Temple for this sermon. However, a motorcycle was ridden in Angelus Temple for

this sermon, but Aimee wasn't riding it. It happened in 1937 when visiting evangelist Floyd Johnson spoke atAngelus Temple, while Sister Aimee was in Denver. He re-created her famous sermon of twelve years earlierand rode the motorcycle on the platform. So, “Yes,” a motorcycle was once ridden in A ngelus Temple for thesermon "Arrested for Speeding." But, it wasn't ridden by Aimee.

In Sister Aimee’s sermon, she equated people committing sin and turning their lives against the will of God, to

people speeding on the road, in violation of the law. She said that God has sent His Traffic Officers of Warning

and Judgment on motorcycles of mercy. She said, “The World was arrested for speeding in Noah’s day when,in the midst of their eating, drinking, dancing and merry making, God opened the windows of Heaven and sentthe flood. The peoples were arrested for speeding at the Tower of Babel when the Lord confounded theirlanguage and scattered them abroad. The inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah were arrested for speeding because their sin was very grievous. The Lord rained fire and brimstone out of Heaven and overthrew thosecities and all the plain. Pharaoh and his hosts were arrested for speeding through the Red Sea in pursuit ofGod’s children, when the Lord took off their chariot wheels and cause the waters to cover them. Absalom was

arrested for speeding by Almighty God. What a sinner he was! He said, ‘No one will find out. No one willcatch me! I am not afraid.’ One day as he fled down the Road of Sin, pursued by his guilty conscience, his

steed galloped under the thick boughs of a great oak. A breeze was blowing. The branches of the tree dippeddown. Absalom was caught up off his horse and hanged by the hair of his head and left to die. Belshazzar was

arrested for speeding at a wild drinking party with a thousand of his lords. (With) eating, drinking, makingmerry... divine intervention and arrest were the farthest from his mind. Suddenly, came the shriek of the siren,splitting the revelrous air! Perhaps they had not realized the rate at which they were speeding as they drankfrom the golden vessels and desecrated the altars of the Most High. People seldom do when they ride along inthe chariots of gaiety and pride.... They turned to see the hand of the One who had arrested them. There it was--- writing, writing on the wall —‘MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. God hath numbered thy kingdom andfinished it. Thou are weighed in the balances and found wanting.’ Jonah was arrested for speeding from

Nineveh to Tarsus, little dreaming that he would be caught... Saul of Tarsus was arrested for speeding on theroad to Damascus as he haste upon his high horse of authority to destroy the Christian converts. ‘Let me gethold of these Christians once. I will make them renounce their faith. I will haul them before the magistrates and bring them bound to Jerusalem!’ Suddenly there came a sound. God’s traffic officer rode up beside the now

trembling Saul. Piercing, blinding, searching, there shined ‘round about him a light from Heaven: and he fell tothe earth, and heard a voice saying, ‘Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?’..... No matter how bold a man has been before, he is usually docile when the arresting officer speaks.”

Sister Aimee goes on to say, “The Master still has his motor officers upon Life’s thoroughfares. The Cross of

Jesus Christ still stands at the intersection, bidding us STOP on the Road to Destruction--- LOOK to the Lambof God---and LISTEN that we may hear His voice and accept his great Salvation.”

Sister Aimee has asked the question, “ARE YOU SPEEDING PAST THE CROSS OF SALVATION?” During this sermon she said, “As I ride up beside you and plead with you to stop speeding past the Cross ---stop riding over and mangling the bleeding body of your Lord. See, His arms are stretched out to you this

moment. His voice invites you. Will you not say to Him, ‘Loving Savior, I surrender now to Thee?’ He willset the joy bells ringing in your heart....feeling as though you were walking on air, and your life will be a happierone than ever you have known.”

If Sister Aimee were here right now, she would probably tell you that no matter how much speeding or howmuch sinning you have done, God sent his Son to pay the fine for us by taking our punishment upon His Cross.You are not alone. For in Romans 3:23 God’s word tell us that all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of

God. And, in Romans 6:3, we are told the wages of those sins is death. Therefore, there is a gap between manand God. Man has tried all kinds of ways to reach God. Some of those ways are doing good works, philosophy,church membership and/or attending once in a while, and giving money to worthwhile causes. Even thoughsome of those things are good in themselves and indicate good character, God has provided only one way to

bridge the gap. The only way is Jesus Christ! Acts 4:12 says, “Salvation is found in no one else, fo r there is

no name under which we must be saved.” Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comesto the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6) “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in

your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

There is a lot going on in the world right now which has caused many of us fear and panic. Wouldn’t you rathergo through it with Him than without Him?

Please pray this, with your whole heart , “Dear God, my heavenly Father, I confess that I am a sinner and have been separated from You. I ask forgiveness of my sins. I repent and accept this gift of repentance and I wish to be free in you. I confess with my mouth that your son Jesus is my Savior and died for me. I believe in my heartthat You raised Him from the dead. I receive Jesus into my heart and ask Him to become the center of my life.I ask, in the Name of Jesus. Amen."
