2012 - The Mass Shootings - The ChildrenA Spiritual Perspective

As of this date: 12/20/2012, news accounts from CBS and others, report at least 16 mass shootings in theAnd, the year of violence and innocent people being lost, may not be over.

The secular world view, puts the blame on gun laws (or, the lack thereof), mental illness, poor security produres, poor security implementation, violence in video games, Hollywood-type entertainment, poor parentilack of support for parents with poorly functioning children, pop-culture, peer pressure, dysfunctional famililack of good role models, and lack of morals. The seemingly increase in violence would be a result of the dsensitization, caused by the increased exposure to some of the above.

Hopefully, we can offer some spiritual perspective.

If we look back in history, starting with the Book of Genesis, you will see that it was God's intention for us tin harmony with Him, forever. God created Adam and Eve, made in the image and likeness of the CreatoHowever, Adam and Eve exercised their stewardship of a free will by disobeying God (Genesis 3: 1-13). Deuteronomy 30:19-20, God tells us in the scriptures, "Now choose life, so that you and your childrenliveand that you may love the LORD your God, listen to His voice, and hold fast to Him. For the LORyour life..." In Joshua 24:15, in part, says, "But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, thenchoose for yourselves this day whom you will serve... But as for me and my household, we will ser

    the LORD.- NIV

The Bible and history tells us many accounts of people making wrong choices and thwarting God's will. Othe first, following the fall in the Garden of Eden, is where Cain exercises his free will and kills Abel. The s

ers in 2012 obviously exercised their free will and not God's, where God clearly s tates in the Ten Commandments, that one sha ll not commit murder. With sin, which is going against God's winnocents will suffer. Sometimes, that suffering becomes tragic. One way to look at it... imagine that if a man with a family commits a crime. His whole family, which may be innocent, will suffehere will be many ramifications of that suffering. He will cause himself to go to prison and not be able to provide a living for his family. It may cause a severe strain on the marriage and with thechildren. How will the children react? How will they be looked upon by the community?.... etc.... etc....

The people that pulled the triggers and committed murder this year, were not operating within God's will.

Scripture tells us of horrific/evil violence against children. Scriptures tell us of people sacrificing their children to a pagan god. "He sacrificed his children in the fire in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, practiced divination and witchcraft, sought omens, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the L ORD, arousing his anger.."- 2 Chronicles 33:6Remember the story of Moses as a baby? His mother set him adrift on the Nile River in a basket, so he could float to someone who would take him in and protect him? The Pharaoh had issudecree to murder all male Hebrew children (Exodus 1:22). Then, there is King Herod. "When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orderskill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi." Matthew 2:16 -NIV In modern times, sowhere between one, to one and a half million children were killed during the Holocaust.

You can't blame God for these terrible things that have happened. Because, satan will use anyone who is not in God's will to do his bidding. 1 Peter 5:8 says, "Be sober, be vigilant; becausyour adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." NKJV

Satan may not particularly like children. As it is almost Christmas, we are thinking about celebrating the birth of a Child who is going to set things right! In Genesis 3:15, God is saying to EveAnd I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise you on the head, and yo u shall bruise him on the heel. This is the seed woman and not of a man. Nowhere else in the Bible is a woman said to have a seed. It is always the man who is said to have a seed. But here, God says, the woman's seed will bruise the

serpent's (the devil's) head. Therefore, a virgin birth will bring about the Messiah. The devil/serpent fooled and seduced Eve i nto disobeying God. But, in the future, her seed would crush satan

head. Jesus defeated satan through His death on the cross. Of course, that prophecy was fulfilled by the birth and death of Jesus, who was born to a virgin.

What has happened to the babies and children who have been taken? Have they gone to Heaven? At such an early age, children usually have not been given the opportunity to accept or rejhe Gospel message of salvation. Most would be too young to fully comprehend the Gospel message, if it was given to them. They cannot be held accountable as someone who has reachedage where they can fully reason and act upon their f ree will in making a salvation decision. The Bible seems to indicate thi s in a couple of passages. Deuteronomy 1:39 says, "Moreover yourones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they spossess it." Isaiah 7:14-16, says, "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. Curds andhoney He shall eat, that He may know to refuse the evil and choose the good. For before the Child shall know to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land that you dread will

forsaken by both her kings." Listen to what Jesus said and what He did, in Mark 10:13-16, "People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the dples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such athese. Truly I tell you, anyone who wil l not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.' And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blethem." We believe those children are in Heaven, because they are washed clean by the Blood of Jesus on the cross.

A certain Child, who is born, will have the ultimate justice, by His eventual death on the cross. Satan and all his schemes will be ultimately defeated. In the end times, this Child, who is the SoGod, will have the final judgment. And, in Revelation 20, we read the devil will be cast into the Lake of Fire. God says of those doing the evil deeds:

    "It is mine to avenge; I will repay.In due time their foot will slip;

their day of disaster is nearand their doom rushes upon them.

    (Deuteronomy 32:35 - NIV)

We can be assured we will again, see the young children who have preceded us, by having a right relationship with God, through His Son, Jesus. Romans 3:23 says, "All have sinned and fshort of the glory of God." So, understand that all are sinners and the world will never be perfect until Christ returns to set things anew. Ephesians 6:12 says, "Our struggle is not againsflesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."Ask God to foryour sins and invite Jesus into the center of your life. The world and the evil that goes on in it will let you down, but He never will. Philippians 4:4-7 says,"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will sagain: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present yourequests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Please pray, "Dear God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, my heavenly Father, I confess that I am a sinner and have been separated from You. I receive your forgiveness ofsins. I repent and accept the gift of repentance and I wish to be free in You. I confess with my mouth that your son Jesus is my savior and died for me. I believe in my heart that Yraised Him from the dead. I receive Jesus into my heart and ask Him to become the center of my life. I ask, in the Name of Jesus. Amen."Blessings,Pastor Tom (Estero River ABATE Life Member and Southwest ABATE Chapter Chaplain) and Chaplain Kathy (SW ABATE Life Member)- www.messiahsmessengers.org or

    LEGISLATIVE REPORTJanuary 2013

    G 8

    ood Morning Freedom Fighters:

I hope the holidays were good to you, and Santa brought you everything you wanted, or at least everything you deserved

In the wake of the terrible tragedy that occurred in Newtown, Conn., Gov. Rick Scott has called on schools to review their

rity procedures, and has refused to consider any gun control legislation at this time.

So far, only a few bills have been filed concerning guns, and one legislator has filed a bill calling for an armed deputy to baced in every elementary school. We will be tracking these and other bills, and reporting on their outcome. Our lobbyist, Doc, telat he is writing a new stiffer penalties bill and will have it filed before the upcoming legislative session that starts on March 5. I haen a copy of the bill yet, but as soon as I get it, I will pass it along to you. As I said at our last chapter meeting, Florida bikers wiing into this legislative session with a full plate, both in Tallahassee and in Washington, D.C., so I expect that we all will be verys year. Now that the elections are over and our new legislators have been sworn in, and committee assignments have been hant, Lee County has a new Legislative Delegation. Three of the members are old friends to bikers, the other three are new. It s govery important for us to develop a good working relationship with all of the members of the Lee County Legislative Delegation a

eir staffs. Im including their contact information here. I suggest that you print this out and keep it for future referenc e.

om the AMA:S. Environmental Protection Agency may no longer require minimum gas purchase at certain pumps

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency apparently is scrapping its requirement that all consumers buy at least four gagasoline from certain gas pumps that dispense the new E15 ethanol-gasoline blend, the American Motorcyclist Association repo

om the Motorcycle Riders Foundation:accurate Study on Motorcycle Safety Praised by Governors Highway Safety Association.

Recently the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) praised the inaccurate study on motorcycle safety doe Government Accountability Office (GAO).

What both reports failed to tell you is that motorcyclists are safer now than since 1984. Heres why; in 2010 fatalities were

ost identical to 1984, around 4,500 motorcyclists a year. However, what they did not tell you is that in 1984 5.5 million motorcyclere registered in the USA. Compare that to the 7 million registered motorcycles in 2010. Thats 1.5 million more motorcycles andme amount of fatalities.

Source: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) and Federalghway Administration (FHWA) Highway Statistics.

Both the GAO and the GHSA are pushing for what they believe is the silver bullet of motorcycle safety, the mandatory helmw. Proper riding gear should be left to the rider, not the government. When you look at States like Tennessee and Arizona that hughly the same size population and then break down fatality numbers it becomes clear that helmet laws do not have significant ce. Tennesseehas a mandatory helmet law and 121 fatalities for 2010. Arizona has no mandatory helmet law and had 88 fatalitthe same period of time. Even right over the border from Tennessee their neighboring Kentucky, which also has no mandatory

et law, had just 87 fatalities in 2010.

Another area where the Government agencies continue to overlook when dealing with motorcycle safety is rider educatione cannot teach people to ride motorcycles we will have more and more fatalities.Take New Hampshire for example. According to Robert LeTourneau, New Hampshire State Official Motorcycle Education

alist they have had 15 fatal motorcycle accidents of riders who took the class since 1990. Thats out of over 44,000 studen ts traithe same time period and .034% of fatal motorcycle accidents. All with no mandatory helmet law.

While mandatory helmet laws look good on paper they rarely work in the real world. The best approach to motorcycle safed will always be rider education and awareness campaigns. Teaching people how to ride a motorcycle in the proper way and ed

g the general public to look for motorcycles, which can only benefit pedestrians and bicyclists as well, will avoid crashes and saves.

    LEGISLATIVE REPORT (Cont.)January 2013

nother Federal Government Agency Gets it Wrong, Again. The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) recently issued a report on the motorcycle safety grants known as the

n 2010 motorcycle safety grant program. The program has been wildly successful at infusing much needed financial resources ctly into the motorcycle safety community. The Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) was instrumental in getting the grant progra

t up and running. Currently the money, over $45 million over the past 6 years, can only be used for educational purposes. Thosanything from paying instructors, buying new training bikes and equipment, to public education efforts such as look twice camigns.

What the GAO is suggesting is that congress change the language so that the monies can be used for other purposes, sulmet use campaigns. The MRF does not agree with this. The original intent of congress with the grant program was to reduce fas through crash avoidance techniques, not through safer crashing, as the GAO believes we should.

The GAO estimates are just that, a guess. The fact is that the GAO did not really do any new studies or research. They simcycled the same tired talking points that are used by any number of government or quasi government groups.

This isnt the first t ime motorcyclists have been painted in a bad light, calling us a social burden on Americas health carem. The MRF disagrees with that.

Critics and the uninformed believe that motorcyclists, helmeted or not, account for a super majority of health care costs, fr

uma room to long-term care. The problem is thats just not true. There are not a lot of studies on social burden, but more thanough to soundly and logically deflate the social burden myth around motorcyclists. The Journal of American Medicine, one of the most respected of all medical publications, published the findings of a 1988

udy on the subject of the public costs of motorcycle related injury at a specific Seattle, WA hospital. The results clearly showed tcosts to sort out a motorcycle injured patient, 63.4% of the bill was paid out with taxpayer dollars. Thats an astoundingly high cquestion, but what the study goes on to say is that the public cost of any injury at that same Seattle treatment center was 67%,

6% higher. Statistical dead heat. There is also a little more to that story because the public cost of health care is about 45% currently, and was significantly

an that in the mid-eighties when the study was conducted. The facility used for the study was Harborview, a division of the UniveWashington, and one of the largest and state-of-the art facilities in the Seattle region. Because of that the facility sees most of t

orst-case scenarios routinely.A similar study done by the University of North Carolina also found that there was no statistical difference in public cost t o

otorcycle related injury over any other type of injury. Its also important to keep things in perspective. Last year the pub lic share otorcycle related injuries were 0.001% of the entire public health care cost. The MRF will keep you updated on this issue.

    See you in the wind,TEDDYBEAR

    Political Parties

roughout the history of the United States, there have been two main political parties. Starting with the Federalists and Anti-deralists, the parties have developed over the years to the current system - Democrats and Republicans. Although the freedom

eate new political parties exists, no other party has been able to gain the support they need to develop. These minor parties usu

    Hello Bothers and Sisters,

We are looking for more members to step up and show support for the chapter by coming out to Bike Nighevery Tuesday night at The Joint from 6-10. We arent looking for someone to stay the entire time, just an 1/2 houor so of your time would GREATLY be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The Holidays are over and school is starting back January 7th. Be aware of bus stops, school zones, and crowalks. Kids are our future and we need them to stay safe.

Just a friendly reminder about vehicle maintenance. Please, check fluids, lights (include brake lights), tirepressure (psi located on sidewall of tire), and wiper blades. Life is busy for most of us and its easy to forget the

    simple things.

We would love to see you all around bike nights and all events in the future, so be safe, God bless, and...

    STAY ALERT...STAY ALIVE!!!
