Hello Everyone, Looks like rainy season is coming to an end and time to get back out there and attend some events. Calendars are filling up starting with Cape Coral bike night on October 6th followed by Ft Myers, Nov 10th. The Ft Myers L.A.M.A. Chapter will hold their 4th anniversary party on Nov 10th 12 5pm at SunSports in Ft Myers as well. Our Chapter meetings have been well attended over the summer months and I look forward to a packed room when season kicks in and more members are back for the winter. At our last meeting our speaker was Tyler Smith of Brightway Insurance. Tyler spoke about uninsured motorist protection as well as stacking your insurance. Our meetings will be moved from the 4th Sunday to the 1st Sunday starting in November with no October meeting. Moving forward with this Chapter and making some changes will have many benefits in this economy. Thank you Harley Davidson for allowing us the opportunity to work together and for the monthly meeting room. Lets talk about Safety. Soon the Southwest Chapter will be putting on MSAP classes for members interested in seeing what is involved in getting into classes and promoting safety. Anyone interested in attending should contact your VP Jimmie Dennis and as soon as we have a schedule we will release the dates. These first classes will also count as regular classes towards receiving your MSAP certificate and patch. A minimum of 7 class hours will qualify. Our 32nd annual Christmas ride is scheduled for Dec 23rd. This year we will leave from Harley Davidson on Colonial Blvd in Ft Myers. Lets start talking this up and bring as many riders as we can. Last year we had 159 bikes not to mention how many cars, trucks and others who supported this event. Our goal this year is 300 bikes. No problem! We are looking for ideas for a spring Chapter event which would include a 3 day weekend of camping without the work of an event. We would like to include other Chapters and Organizations. Send us your ideas. Our Chapter is growing and we could use your help. If you could spare some time to help with our weekly bike nights or any events, please contact a Board member. SouthWest Chapter will host the June 2013 State Meeting. We are looking for members to step up and help out as this is not an easy task but, more help, less work.

The Blessings to Bikers: How to Maximize the Blessing "Hedge of Protection" and " Angels to Surround and Protect"
DEAR FELLOW ABATE MEMBERSDuring many of the Bike Blessings that we are invited to officiate, many times in our prayers, you will hear us ask God for a "Hedge of protection" and " His Angels to surround and protect you." Where do those prayerful petitions come from? "Hedge of protection," can be found in Job 1:6-12. Job 1:6-12 - 6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them. 7 The LORD said to Satan, From where do you come? Then Satan answered the LORD and said, From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it. 8 The LORD said to Satan, Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil. 9 Then Satan answered the LORD, Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11 But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has; he will surely curse You to Your face. 12 Then the LORD said to Satan, Behold, all that he has is in your power, only do not put forth your hand on him. So Satan departed from the presence of the LORD. - New American Standard Bible (NASB) There are several things to notice. The hedge of protection is granted to God's SERVANT. And, the hedge is put around him, personally. The "things" are not necessarily protected, if God is permissive in allowing those to be disturbed in some manner. If God is permissive, then we must believe it is for some divine purpose. For Romans 8:28 says, 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. In the ancient days, hedges were parts of the walls built around fortifications for defensive reasons. Julius Caesar wrote about his enemies' hedges as being an impenetrable wall of sharpened branches and skillfully cut saplings wrapped in thorns. These hedges made it extremely hard for Caesar's army to penetrate and overcome its adversaries. Obviously, we cannot see God's hedge of protection surrounding us. Therefore, it must be spiritual. A clue to what God uses, can be found in Psalm 91:4,1011 - 4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. - King James Version (KJV) When we were overseas, we encountered some American missionaries with a very powerful story. They told us about a compound they occupied, using it as a base of relief operations. One day, the huge protective metal gates of the compound had been removed from their hinges for painting. They had been securely placed, leaning on the outer walls. No wind. No rain. No storms. The American women had been left at the compound, while the men were elsewhere. At that time, native men decided to enter the building and have their way with the women. As one man was approaching, there was suddenly a huge crash of one of the gates falling to the ground. The men, immediately fled. The missionaries firmly believe that God had sent His angels as the hedge of protection. Another story we've read about, was regarding missionaries in the Pacific who were targeted...
