C15 Engine with ACERT™ TechnologyA combination of innovations working at the point of combustion, ACERT Technologyoptimizes engine performance while meeting U.S. EPA Tier 3 and European EU Stage IIIaemission regulations for off-road applications.

Cat® C15 Engine with ACERT Technology The C15 engine provides a full-ratedgross power (SAE J1995) of 403 kW(540 hp) at 2000 rpm with a torque of2356 Nm (1738 lb/ft). The combinationof large displacement and high torqueallow the RM500 to propel through thetoughest materials.

Mechanically Actuated ElectronicallyControlled Unit Injection (MEUI)The MEUI fuel system is a uniquesystem that combines the technicaladvancement of an electronic controlsystem with the simplicity of directmechanically controlled unit fuelinjection. The MEUI system excels inits ability to control injection pressureover the entire engine operating speedrange. These features allow the C15 tohave complete control over injectiontiming, duration and pressure.

Multiple Injection Fuel DeliveryMultiple injection fuel delivery involvesa high degree of precision. Preciselyshaping the combustion cycle lowerscombustion chamber temperatures, which generates fewer emissions andoptimizes fuel combustion, translatinginto more work output for your fuelcost.

C15 Cylinder BlockThe cylinder block is a one-piece, greyiron block that features generous ribbingfor stiffness and heavy bearingbulkheads for rigidity and strength asthe crankshaft turns. This new designsupports the engine’s highercompression ratios and increases itspower density. The incorporation ofstraight-thread, o-ring connection pointsreduces the loss of engine oil and fluids.

High Cylinder PressuresHigh cylinder pressures combined withtightly controlled tolerances promoteextremely efficient fuel burn, less blowby and lower emissions.

Service, Maintenance and RepairEasier service, maintenance and repair isaccomplished by monitoring keyfunctions and logging critical indicators.Advanced electronic diagnosticcapabilities are possible using CatElectronic Technician.

Turbocharged and Air-to-AirAftercooling (ATAAC)The turbocharged air-to-air aftercoolingsystem provides high horsepower withincreased response time while keepingexhaust temperatures low for longhours of continuous operation.

Air-to-Air AftercoolingAir-to-air aftercooling keeps air intaketemperatures down and in concert withthe tight tolerance combustion chambercomponents, maximizes fuel efficiencyand minimizes emissions. Newturbocharger, unique cross-flow head, single, front driven, overhead cam anda more efficient intake manifoldgenerate significant improvements inair flow. This generates significantimprovements in efficiency and reducedemissions.

ADEM™ A4 electronic Control ModuleThe ADEM A4 electronic controlmodule manages fuel delivery, valvetiming and airflow to get the mostperformance per gallon (liter) of fuelused. The control module providesflexible fuel mapping, allowing theengine to respond quickly to varyingapplication needs. It keeps track ofengine and machine conditions whilekeeping the engine operating at peakefficiency.
