The Stevenson High School Special Education Division will establish a premier program that supports the exceptional students’ academic and social-emotional independence, their achievement of state standards, and their involvement in and access to
educational resources and opportunities that supports their ability to become
productive members of the community.
MissionMission• To provide support services for exceptional students, by promoting their
ability to achieve successful outcomes by emphasizing the attainment of basic skill development and focusing on the needs of each individual student.
• To implement a structured system of data collection which will allow us to identify the students’ current status and respond to areas that adversely impact their academic experience.
• To provide experiential programs to support the post-secondary needs of all exceptional students.
• To establish our division as an inherent, collaborative component of the PLC.
• To provide students with access to academic and co-curricular opportunities.
• To support staff input and teamwork, promoting a collaborative environment that encourages staff to contribute and excel.

A special education model that services approximatly10% of the population (375 students in the building) based on the type and level of services needed.
Collaboration with Collaboration with Sender SchoolsSender Schools
• Special education teams articulate regarding the students’ current and projected performance and needs.
• Sender schools are invited to visit and tour Stevenson. This enables them to view the various programs and facilities. Additionally, sender school teachers are updated on any changes since the previous year.
• The Stevenson special education department presents an evening orientation.
• Special education teams, from both schools, collaborate with students and parents at annual review meetings.

• SpEdEx is used primarily for students who need assistance with problem-solving and self-advocacy

This program is intended to service students who are in need of an alternative setting because of emotional and/or behavioral disabilities.
It provides a highly supportive, alternative setting within Stevenson High School using a team approach incorporating digital learning (APEX) curriculum.
Students will be supported with life management skills, transitional support and physical education class.
This program meets the unique academic, social, behavioral and emotional needs of special education students.
