Solve the Magic Pot Problem with pictures, numbers, and words. Becky went to the supermarket to buy a package of chocolate chip cookies. There were 17 cookies in the package. If she took the package to school and put it in the Magic Pot, how many cookies will Becky have? 2. Write a story problem about a Magic Pot. You can choose anything you would like to put into the Magic Pot. Include the equation that goes with your story problem. Now solve your Magic Pot problem. Look around your house for 3-D shapes. Try to find a sphere, a cube, a rectangular prism, a triangular prism, a cylinder, a cone and pyramid. In your journal, list at least 5 real world 3-D shapes that you found. *For 3 bonus tickets, take pictures of the objects that you found and email (mom or dad can help with this) them to your math teacher. Language Arts : Read the story and answer the questions in complete sentences in your journal. Max got a bird for his birthday. He wanted to teach his bird to talk. He tried to get his bird to say, “Freddie wants a cracker,” but Freddie would not say it. He worked with Freddie for two weeks. Freddie was silent. Finally Max gave up. “Freddie can’t talk!” Max said sadly. A few days later, Max was eating a cookie. “Freddie wants a cookie!” said Freddie. Max was astonished! He could not believe it. Freddie could talk! He just didn’t like crackers. 1. What did Max get for his birthday? 2. What is the name of Max’s pet? What did Max try to teach his bird? What do you think astonished means?
