What we do
This booklet aims to provide you with an overview of the key programmes from Durham CountyCouncil Sport and Physical Activity Development Team, and to outline some of the services wherewe work alongside and on behalf of partners, to help local people to start and to stay active.
At a local level, we offer a range of support and funding to help voluntary sport and physicalactivity organisations to develop and grow in strength and capacity; to increase opportunities toparticipate for all ages and levels. Additionally, we have a number of area based teams who helpto create a menu of sport and physical activity opportunities led by the community for thecommunity. We compliment this work by providing a community health programme supported bySpecialist Physical Activity Consultants, to inspire and reach those who are not yet active.
On a strategic level, we focus upon attracting resources and planning withpartners to ensure that there is a high quality choice of activities forall residents across County Durham.
Finally, we try to inspire, by supporting a range offun activity challenges and celebratory events tohelp engage with non-participants and raise theprofile of all that is good about taking part in sportand physical activity.
Our goal is to increaseparticipation in sportand physical activity inCounty Durham.
