WE CAN FLUENTLY ADD NUMBER COMBINATIONS TO 5.
Egg Addi2on Direc2ons Prepara2on:
Print and laminate the baskets and eggs or flowers, game board, and Dominoes. Both the eggs and the flowers use the same number combina2ons. It’s your choice as to what style of
cards you want your students to use. Using a box cuDer, make a cut in the top of each basket. The eggs or flowers can be inserted inside the slit.
See pictures on next page.
Op#on 1: Students sort the egg or flower cards into the basket with the correct sum. Write the combina2ons on the recording sheet. All baskets on the recording sheet will not necessarily be used. It is dependent on the sum. For example, the sum of 1 has only two combina2ons: 0 + 1 and 1 + 0.
Op#on 2: Addi2on game: For 2 – 4 players
Decide if you will be using the egg cards or the flower cards. Place the cards upon the correct “Place cards here” mat.
Player 1 picks a card, adds the numbers together to get a sum, and moves that many spaces upon the game board. Use buDons or cubes as game pieces. Students may use manipula2ves to find the sum if needed.
Play con2nues this way un2l someone reaches the finish line or un2l all the cards are gone.
Op#on 3: Print 2 copies of the Domino pages.
Students match the Dominoes to the flower or egg addi2on sentences. When finished, they choose a few of their number sentences and write them on the recording sheet. They write the sum on the flower or egg and draw dots to show the combina2on. This is a higher level thinking game!
