  • Youre traveling to Sri Lanka! This short guide will help you prepare for your upcoming journey with Alluring Asia.

    Passports & VisaA passport valid for at least 6 months following the date of your departure in Sri Lanaka is required. In addition, an Electronic Travel Authorizaton (ETA), or Visa, is required.

    Immuzinations & VaccinesThere are no mandatory inoculations unless you come from a yellow fever or cholera area. It is best to seek the advice of your physician and follow proper recommendations. For additional information please visit www.cdc.gov/travel.

    TippingGoods and service charges of 10% are added to bills in most leading hotels and restaurants. Where it is not included, a tip of 10-15% of the bill would be appropriate.

    Hotel bellboy: $1.00 - $2.00 USD per bag. Your tour guide: $10.00 - $12.00 USD per person per day. Driver/assistants: $6.00 - $7.00 USD per person per day.

  • What to Pack Cotton clothing is useful at all times of the year; though sweaters, light rain jackets, and umbrellas are advisable for the cooler mountainous areas.

    Modest dress for women is recommended, particularly outside of religious sites and beach areas.

    Comfortable walking shoes along with beach sandals will be particularly useful.

    If trekking is something of interest to you, come prepared with suitable gear for these activities.

    Electronic chargers for your camera, phone, iPad, etc. and extra camera memory card(s).

    Electrical converter and outlet adapter. Sri Lankan electrical voltage is 230-240, 50Hz with two and three pin round plugs in wide use. Voltage fluctuates often in Sri Lanka, so a stabilizer is the safest bet as it will protect sensitive electronic equipment.
