This week we highlight Children’s Faith Formation.

Children’s Faith Formation

Children’s Faith Formation provides Religious Education for children ages pre-k through grade 5. Through a variety of programs, we partner with parents to lead young disciples to a closer relationship with Jesus Christ.

KIDs Club (CCE) is regular faith formation. There are several options for KIDs Club. Children can attend the regular school year program from September through April, or attend the KIDs Club Summer Intensive program held in June. Students attend Monday through Friday, from 9:00-12:00 for two weeks. We are also very pleased to be offering a KIDs Club program during the regular school year for children with special needs. We have just completed our second year and are looking forward to offering the class again this upcoming school year.

First Reconciliation and First Eucharist preparation are for children that are in their second year of faith formation in either a Catholic school setting or parish faith formation program. Parents attend a meeting that is designed just for them where they become fa-miliar with the history and theology of the sacraments. They receive the materials for the preparation and work with their child at home. In both KIDs Club and in the second-grade Catholic school religion class lessons are taught for both sacraments. We support parents as they are the primary education of their children’s faith.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word is offered several times a month during the 9:00 a.m.Mass. This program offers an experience for children to hear the Scripture in words they un-derstand and share their understanding of God’s word. Children in grades Kindergarten through grade 4 are welcome.

Vacation Bible School is offered every year in June. The program runs Monday through Friday from 9:00-12 Noon. Children that are entering Kindergarten through grade 5 in the fall are welcome to attend.

RCIA adapted for children is offered for those children who are over 7, but have not been baptized. Their first year they attend a grade level faith formation class and the second year they are prepared for the sacrament of initiation.

Children’s Faith formation also provides formation for parents in both Spanish and English. We have a committee of very dedicated volunteers. For more information, please contact:

KIDs Club News (CCE):We are very excited to announce the new CCE name, KIDs Club. This is just one of several new changes underway at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. We will be launching our new user friendly website very soon, we will be switching over to a new software program called ParishSOFT and we have a new family faith formation registration form. Parents can reg-ister children for KIDs Club, Edge and Life Teen all on the same form. With some of the new changes we thought it would be a good opportunity to rename CCE. The Archdiocese changed its Religious Education office from the CCE office to the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis. We wanted a more “kid” friendly name. So, welcome to KIDs Club every-one! Family registration forms are available in the church office or on the church website.

First Communion will be celebrated on the following dates and times:May 21st, during the 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Masses

Children’s Liturgy of the Word: Due to First Eucharist and holidays there will not be Children’s Liturgy of the Word in May. The next Children’s Liturgy of the Word will be on June 4th and 25th during the 9:00 a.m. Mass.

Summer CCE Intensive: Summer CCE is a two week faith formation program from June 19th to 30th, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. The program is for students entering kinder-garten through fifth grade. Registration forms are now available. Please visit the church website or the church office. TEACHERS ARE NEEDED.

The 2017 Vacation Bible School is here and it promises to be another exciting and faith filled week. Join us this Summer June 12-16, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Registra-tion is now open! To download the form visit www.saintcecilia.org, click on the Lifelong Faith formation link, and go to Children’s Faith Formation on the drop down menu.

Faith Formation (CCE) for children with special needs:If you or someone you know could benefit from this program, please contact Rosemary Munoz at [email protected] or call 713-579-2640.

Children’s Faith Formation programs and events are for children in pre-k 4 through grade 5. Please refer to the programs listed below or contact one of our staff for more information.
