ANNULMENTS Last Spring, His Holiness, Pope Francis overhauled the process of obtaining the

Church Declaration of the Nullity of a Marriage that took place in a Catholic Church:

-there is no fee for the process: -the NY Archdiocese can now handle the procedure, no matter

where in the world the Marriage took place; -the process is reduced to one step rather than a second review

that was formerly required; -the application form to begin the process may be downloaded

from the internet! If you were married in the Catholic Church and, regrettably, the Marriage has broken up, you are invited to speak with one of

the Priests.

LANDSCAPING AROUND OUR CHURCH BELL Our Bell, which from 1930 until this past August, beckoned parishioners to worship, has been given a new home on our front lawn. A plaque will soon be installed to commemorate this. The weight of the bell, 950 pounds, had begun to compromise the integrity of the roof, resulting in several water leaks. It is now anchored to a cement base. We would like to thank Anthony Minuto for the trees that he has

planted around the bell.

ST. CLARE’S PRO-LIFE GROUP THOUGHT OF THE WEEK:

“You are called to stand up for life! To respect and defend the mystery of life always and everywhere, including the

lives of unborn babies, giving real help and encouragement to mothers in difficult situations. You are

called to work and pray against abortion!”

Pope Saint John Paul II

Our Pro-Life Group is sponsoring our 18th Annual “Collection for Babies," this weekend after the Masses in the Lower

Church. We ask and pray for your generous support, once again, to help babies and their mothers, before and after

pregnancy. All items and money collected will be donated to various pro-life organizations Thank you!

A PRAYER AT ELECTION TIME “O Lord, Our just and Loving Father, We thank you for the precious gift of Human Life That is greatly threatened by the Culture of Death. Aware of the dangers we are now facing, We ask that you guide us in electing the leaders Our nation truly needs: Leader with the wisdom to discern your providential plan, Leaders who understand the weakness of the human condition, Leaders who counsel our citizens to respect the rule of law, Leaders with the fortitude to face their opponents with grace, Leaders with knowledge of our Constitution and of natural rights, Leaders whose piety makes them aware of their own limitations, And Leaders whose reverential fear informs their moral judgment. We pray that the inalienable right To life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, Promised by our founders, May be preserved, protected , and defended for all, Especially the most vulnerable members of our society. Almighty and Merciful God, Sustain us in our struggle to live in peace As one nation under God. Amen.”

Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord, On April of 2006, I attended the Funeral Mass of Monsignor Robert Saccomann, the Pastor of St. Boniface Parish in Rockland County. He was a dear friend of my cousins, Janet and John Zahn, and in 2002 we shared a lovely dinner with him at their home. “Father Bob,” as he was fondly known, proved to be a wonderful guest. He loved Broadway shows and shared his love of the arts that evening. He was a bright, witty and pastoral priest, a real “people’s person.” Having enjoyed his company, I very much wanted to attend his Mass of Christian Burial. Upon my arrival at the Church, I discovered that Father Bob had meticulously planned his funeral. In the booklet that he prepared for the Mass, he included a reflection that was written by his friend, Sister Regina Ahern, an Ursuline Sister. I am sharing this with you as we are in the brink of the month of November, dedicated to prayer for the Faithful Departed:

“Whatever will happen on the other side

When everything for me will fall into eternity I do not know!

I believe this: a great Love awaits me!

I know, however, that at that moment, poor and stripped of all,

I shall let God measure the value of my life.

But do not think that I am without hope… No! I believe that a great Love awaits me.

Now that my hour is near,

And the voice of Eternity is beckoning me To cross over the wall, what I have believed,

I will believe all the more deeply at the moment of death.

It is toward Love that I am walking as I go away; It is in His Love that I hold out my arms; It is while still in life that I let go gently.

If I die, do not cry.

It is Love that takes hold of me peacefully. Yes, I am afraid...and why not?

Remind me often, simply, that Love awaits me. My Redeemer is going to open

The door of Joy for me, of His Light.

Yes, Father, here I come to you, Just like a child, I come to throw myself into Your Love,

Your Love that is awaiting me.”

What a comforting view of the Afterlife! How well does it express our Catholic Faith and what awaits us! May it console us as we pray for our loved ones in Heaven and those souls who are in Purgatory, who await the joys of Heaven. May the month of November strengthen our belief in Eternal Life.

Prayerfully in the Risen Lord,

REST IN PEACE Eternal Peace Grant Unto Them, O Lord
