HOW MUCH TO GIVE ...FOR GOD LOVES A PERSON WHO GIVES CHEERFULLY.”

(2 Corinthians 9:7) On the weekend of May 28th you contributed $5559.00

in the Regular Parish Collection and $1829.00 in the Second Collection for the Parish Loan Reduction. Thank you for your sacrificial offerings of gratitude!

“RENEW AND REBUILD” UPDATE The Church roof is now in place...A commemorative plaque has been

placed on the Church Plaza lawn in front of the Bell. The plaque commemorates the bell, which was on the Church roof for 87 years, and beckoned worshippers to Mass for almost 9 decades...We have

settled on an accomplished artist from Poland. He will begin the restoration, re-painting and design of the Church ceiling murals and moldings in late July. So as to minimalize any disruption, the project

will be done in stages. It will take approximately a month, with temporary scaffolding...Safety Handrails have been installed on the

walls, on either side of the Sanctuary. They will allow individuals to use them for balance as

they enter the Church...Thank you to those who have made pledges and are keeping up with

their payments! Your generosity and thoughtfulness has allowed us to do so much!

We still have a ways to go with the Church. Please consider a Pledge to help us pay off the

Air Conditioning Expenses. Since we have surpassed our mandated goal,

all new donations and pledges remain entirely with the Parish!

OUR FINANCE COUNCIL

At our May meeting, with members Ronald Bellantese, Margaret Damo, Peter Genares, Kate Harnett, Nick Leshi and

Judge Douglas McKeon present, we focused our attention on a number of issues: (1) the “Renew And Rebuild” Program. With pledges still coming through for the next four years, we have an outstanding loan that we will begin to pay down from funds col-

lected from our Loan Reduction Special Collections. (2) an analysis of our Sunday Collections, which are up from last year.

(3) overall expenses which have successfully been reduced. (4) Our loan for the first floor renovation of the Former Convent

has been completely paid off by the East Bronx Regional School Office. The Council, which meets four times a year, will

hold its next meeting on October 10th.

Dear Brothers and Sisters: A blessed “Father’s Day” to all of our fathers and grandfathers and to all those wonderful men who have had a significant influence in our lives. As was our custom for the Mothers of our Parish, who you asked us to pray for in May, we will be offering the 7:00am Mass every day this week for the Fathers who you have enrolled in our Father’s Day Spiritual Bouquets. Among the many quotes on Fathers that I came across was the following:

“I imagine God to be like my father. My father was always the voice of certainty. Certainty in the wisdom, certainty in the path, certainty always in God. For me, God is certainty in everything Certainty that everything is good and Everything is God.”

What a profound statement on the role of a Dad and the place of God as our Father! Father’s Day began to be observed here in our own country in 1908 when 361 men, 250 of them Fathers, were killed in a mining disaster in West Virginia. That first celebration took place in a Methodist Church and its aim was the prayerful remembrance of the fathers who had lost their lives. Might I suggest that we dedicate our prayers today for our Dads and Grandads. And, if you have the time, why not attend Mass one day this week and offer your Holy Communion for them. However we celebrate Father’s Day, let us take a moment to acknowledge the contributions that our father has made to our life. How appropriate that we observe Father’s Day on the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ. Holy Communion is the nurturing gift of Love from our Heavenly Father. Let us thank God for “His Fathership” shown so well in the Sacrament of the Eucharist. Like a caring Father, God generously provides for our spiritual needs in this Sacrament of the Body and Blood of His Son.

Prayerfully,

REST IN PEACE Eternal Peace Grant Unto Them, O Lord
