FROM THE DESK OF FR. FALLON Happy Labor Day Weekend! For over a hundred years, our nation takes a breath on the first Monday of September. Whether it’s for some extra sleep or a last plunge into the pool, Labor Day is also a time for us to reflect on work—and to take time for gratitude to the Lord. “Give success to the work of our hands!” –Psalm 90. It’s hard work to labor for the Lord, too. Can you think of a recent time you have done something to build up the Kingdom of God? It takes a lot of sacrifice—especially with how busy we all are—but when we work with the Lord, so many will come to know Jesus more through our efforts. It’s work the toil! Some really hard workers in the Lord’s vineyard are the Little Sisters of the Poor. They’ve asked to join us next weekend for a missionary appeal, so be sure to keep them in your prayers. The times I’ve visited them in North St. Louis have been humbling. In spite of all their challenges, they continue to work hard at the mission they’ve been given to serve the poor and aged. There’s nothing “little” about the blessing they are to us! We’re still reeling over the news reports about the catastrophic results from Hurricane Harvey. I’ve been impressed with all the outpouring of support—including many volunteers from Louisiana. Some of these helpers were affected by Hurricane Katrina; they were overwhelmed with the volunteers from Texas and felt moved to return the compassion! We can help our brothers and sisters in Texas, too. If you are able, consider sending a donation to the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. You can make your donation at catholiccharities.org. A blessed three-day weekend and Labor Day to you all! Fr. Fallon

“News Around Town” Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I want to inform you that a new allegation of sexual abuse of a minor has been made against Reverend John Robert “Jack” Campbell while he was a member of the faculty at the former Prep Seminary – South in Shrewsbury during the 1960s. The Review Board of the Archdiocese of St. Louis considers this allegation of sexual abuse by Father Campbell to be credible. Father Campbell is on permanent administra-tive leave which prohibits him from engaging in priestly ministry. Father Campbell has been retired from ministry since 1989 and currently resides in a private residence. Re-ports of abuse by Father Campbell were first made in the 1990s, prior to the adoption of the Dallas Charter for the Protection of Chil-dren and Young People in 2002. In addition to Prep South, Father Campbell was on the faculty of St. Pius X High School in Festus in the 1980s. Father Campbell’s parish assign-ments included St. Elizabeth (Crestwood), St. Edward (St. Louis), Notre Dame (Wellston), and Sacred Heart (Valley Park). Anyone who wishes to make a report of the sexual abuse of a minor by Father Campbell or by any other priest, deacon or employee of the Archdiocese of St. Louis may contact Sandra Price, Executive Director of the Of-fice of Child and Youth Protection, at (314) 792-7271 or [email protected]. Re-ports may also be made to the Missouri Divi-sion of Social Services Child Abuse Hotline at 800.392.3738 for allegations involving a person who is currently under the age of 18, or to civil authorities for allegations involv-ing a person who is now an adult, but was abused as a minor. Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson Archbishop of St. Louis

"Please mark your calendars: St. Elizabeth's Fall Festival, Saturday, October 21! Something for everyone: music, kids activities, Mass, chicken dinner, more music, BBQ by Knights of Columbus, fireworks display. This is a St. Elizabeth parish event, but we invite and encourage the Crestwood community, alumni and past parishioners of St. Elizabeth to join us in this day of fun, fellowship, and community! We need many volunteers to make this day a success. Please contact Drew Finke at 314-591-3739 or Kaitlyn Finke at 314-856-8003 to volunteer. More details to follow. God bless." We are also asking for volunteers to help with some of the different events throughout the day. If you can spare an hour or two please contact Drew or Kaitlyn. Another successful rummage sale was held on Saturday August 26th in the parish gym. The rummage sale brought in $1,188. Our success was due to the many helpers who contributed their time, talent and treasures. We would like to the thank those who helped thru the week and the day of the sale: Ted & Nancy Arunski Pat Codden Jim LeBeau Mary Matthews Anne McGinnis Chris McMinn Carole Meier Larry Millburg Peggy Muldoon Mary L. Parsons Steve Renschen Karen and Jim Schlaker If I missed anyone, I sincerely apologize. Thank you, John
