1111Completing the NTCET

12NTCET = Northern Territory Cert EdSACE = South Aust Cert Ed

Stage 1 = Year 11 (generally semester length), 10 creditsStage 2 = Year 12 (generally year length), 20 credits

a total of 200 credits must be achieved to receive the NTCET

All of the subjects in the:

COMPULSORY sections of stage 1 must achieve a C grade or better to meet these requirements (PLP, Literacy, Numeracy)

A further 60 credits must achieve a C grade or better at stage 2

A further 40 credits of Free Choice must achieve a C over stage 1 and 2

A total of 140 credits must receive a C grade or better across stage 1 and 2

VET units can be used in the Free Choice subject areas

There is a limit to the number of Certificate I qualifications can be counted towards the completion of the NTCETCompetencies from a MAXIMUM of TWO Certificate 1 qualifications can be used towards the NTCET

Some Cert III VET courses can contribute to up to 60 credits in the Stage 2 credits (for an ATAR only 20 credits for the 4th subject)

The ATAR is calculated from the University aggregate

The University aggregate is calculated from scaled scores. These are numeric measures of your performance in TAS (Tertiary Admission Subjects) which are derived from your grades, and are reported out of 20 for 20 credit subjects

The Uni aggregate is calculated from your best scaled scores from 3x 20 credit TAS PLUS the best outcome from the flexible option, which can be either:

The score of the 4th 20 credit TAS or recognised studiesor any two of the following1/2 the score of a fourth 20 credit TAS or Recognised studies;The score of a 10 credit TAS or Recognised studies;The score of another 10 credit TAS of recognised Studies

Subjects can only come from a maximum of three attempts which need not be in consecutive years.

The Uni aggregate is then converted into an ATAR. The ATAR is an indicator of how well a particular student has performed relative to other students.It is calculated as follows;

Each Learning area has subjects that are offered at the Stage 1 (Year 11) and Stage 2 (Year 12) level.

Depending on the pathway that a student wishes to achieve (where they want to go at the end of Year 12) will depend on the subjects that the choose for year 11.

30School Based ApprenticeshipsSchool Based Apprenticeships a business initiated opportunity that allows an apprentice to complete Year 12 while working on an apprenticeship on negotiated days.

31School Based Apprenticeships a business wants to take a current student on as an apprentice, but allow student to complete NTCET. After consulting with the students parent/s and the Australian Apprenticeship Centre NT, the College is approached.Usually student is out for 1-3 days a week and generally completes their Core subjects on the days they are at school. We had our first School Based Apprentice signed up this year and she is working at the local Pharmacy.

Future Careers counselling service The Vision: To have a dedicated Careers room where information on pathways, universities, job guides, careers, etc. will be available for students to access. A qualified Careers Practitioner will be on hand to answer questions, assist in research and provide career guidance. Assistance with resume writing, e-portfolios, cover letters, job applications.
