Tonight is a milestone night for a trio of Blues’ players. Eric Brewer will be dressing in his 700th NHL game, Alex Steen his 400th

NHL game and David Backes his 300th NHL/Blues game    Tonight will be the Blues’ first game against an NHL team from north of the border and their 24th game against Ottawa all-time. Their 23 previous meetings ties for the Blues’ second fewest against any NHL team

Neither team has ever shutout the other...OTT is the only NHL team that the Blues have yet to shutout in club history and one offour teams they have never beaten in overtime (ATL, NYR, WSH)…The Sens are also one of seven teams the Blues have never facedin a shootout (BUF, CAR, FLA, NJD, PIT, TBL)

Tonight will be the 4th of 17 back-to-back sets for the Blues and their last such couple against two Eastern Conference teams. Thusfar, the Blues are 2-1 in the first game of back-to-backs and 2-0-1 in the second…however, in their only other consecutive setagainst the East, they defeated both Boston (2-1 SOW) and the NY Rangers (2-0 W)

Thought STL hasn’t beaten them since 2001-02, they did experience a period of success against OTT when they entered theleague…from 1992 to 2002, the Blues accrued a 10-6-1 mark vs. the Sens

BLUE NOTES  At 6-0-1 (13 pts), the Blues are one of two NHL teams that have yet to lose in regulation on home ice (VAN)…they are alsoapproaching their best 10-game home start in team history

Best 10-game Home Starts97’-98’ 8-1-1 (17 pts)00’-01’ 8-1-1 (17 pts)93’-94’ 7-0-3 (17 pts)  After a six-game stretch in which the Blues’ PP went 0 for 25, they have now tallied PPG’s in three straight, their second longeststreak of the season. The Note are 3 for 8 overall during their current stretch and their 37.5% conversion rate is fourth best in theNHL since Nov. 13 and  towers over the 16.1% clip they accrued during their four-game PPG scoring streak to begin the season

STL’s loss to Colorado last Monday was their second consecutive loss in regulation but just the first time they failed to gain pointsin consecutive outings in 16 games this season…that was their longest stretch since 2003-04 when it took 17 games for them tosuffer back-to-back losses in regulation

Carlo Colaiacovo returned from injury last Monday in Colorado and recorded his first multi-point game of the season. Recently,Colaiacovo has made a habit of coming back from injury in a productive manner. In 2009-10, he was out of the lineup from Oct. 28to Nov. 12 only to comeback and record six points in his next seven games (1-5-6), including two multi-point games. From Jan. 23to Jan. 30 he was again absent from the roster but upon his return he tallied eight points in his next 12 games (0-8-8). Finally,Colaiacovo sat out a single affair on Apr. 1 but jumped back into the lineup and finished the season scoring five points in the finalfive games of the year (2-3-5).

Patrik Berglund and Andy McDonald are both currently riding four-game point streaks…for each player it is their first suchstreak this season.

For McDonald, his four-game stretch has included two three-point outings in his last three games.  In a five day period from 11/13 to11/17, McDonald's seven points (2-5-7) tied with Carolina’s, Eric Staal, for the most points in the league Since 11/11, Both McDonald and Berglund have six assists...which tied for second most among all NHL skaters from 11/11/ to 11/17   With his PPG last Monday at COL, Brad Boyes has now strung together his 27th career multi-game scoring streak. His currentthree-game stretch is his first since Apr. 5 to Oct. 16, 2008….His PPG last Monday gave him two this season, equaling his total fromlast year and joined him with Matt D’Agostini and Patrik Berglund as one of three Blues with multiple PPG’s thus far

With a 9-1-2 record and 20 points in their first 12 games, the Blues etched a new franchise mark for the best such start in clubhistory...Since the advent of the conference-based playoff format in 1993-94, the only NHL team to start the season with 20 points intheir first 12 games AND miss the playoffs was the 2000-01 Phoenix Coyotes (Elias)

The Blues have scored two or fewer goals in nine games this season but they have only lost in regulation once in those games (5-1-3)…every other team in the NHL has at least two regulation losses when scoring two or fewer goals in a game (Elias).

St. Louis is unbeaten in regulation when leading after the first period (4-0-2) and the second period (6-0-1) this season

The Blues tied a club record this season by winning their first six home games for the fourth time in franchise history…

Home Winning Streaks to Start a Season10-11, 6 games00-01, 6 games83-84, 6 games70-71, 6 games  The Blues have sold out all seven of their home games thus far this season

STAN'S STATS

St Louis has now gone 5-0-0 against the Eastern Conference this season and have gone 10-0-0 against the East dating back to lastseason. Their last loss to the East ? That came in Ottawa on January 21st as the Senators won 3-2 with all three of their goals comingon the power play.

The Blues had 32 hits in Detroit which tied their season high set on November 7th in New York against the Rangers.

For the third straight game, St Louis will have a new team leader in points. T.J. Oshie had led with ten points before Alex Steenjumped him with two points in Denver. Steen has now been leapfrogged by Andy McDonald’s 13 points which came after his threepoint night in Detroit.

Andy McDonald now has a four game point streak going (2-6-8) as he looks to become the second Blues player with a point streak offive games or longer joining Oshie who had a seven-gamer in October.

Alex Steen will play in his 400th NHL game tonight, becoming the sixth player on the current Blues to have reached that plateau.Steen’s dad Thomas ended up playing 950 games in his career.

Two players who see a lot of ice time while shorthanded will be on display. Jay McClement led all forwards last season averaging3:44 per game and is fifth this season at 3:30. Ottawa’s Chris Phillips was third at 3:50 in 09-10 and has dropped to 11th this yeardespite playing more at 3:55.
