Next Week 2nd Collection Next week, we will take up the Catholic Home Missions Appeal. Right now, over 40% of dioceses in the United States are considered mission territory because they are unable to fund essential pastoral work in their communities. Your support of this appeal eases the struggle of these dioceses. Please prayerfully consider how you can support this appeal. Find more information at www.usccb.org/home-missions.

O Death, where is your sting? O Hell, where is your victory? Christ is risen, and

you are overthrown. Christ is risen, and the demons are fallen. Christ is risen, and the angels rejoice. Christ is risen, and life reigns. Christ is risen, and not one dead remains in the grave. For Christ, being risen from the dead, is become the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. To Him be glory and dominion unto ages of ages.” — St. John Chrysostom

“We bring you the good news that what God promised to the fathers, this day he has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus.” (Acts 13:32-33). The Resurrection of Jesus is the crowning truth of our faith in Christ, a faith believed and lived as the central truth by the first Christian community; handed on as fundamental by Tradition;

established by the documents of the New Testament; and preached as an essential part of the Paschal mystery along with the cross: Christ is risen from the dead! Dying, he conquered death; To the dead, he has given life. (Byzantine Liturgy, Troparion of Easter) — Catechism of the Catholic Church,638 “The Gospel of Easter is very clear: we need to go back there, to see Jesus risen, and to become witnesses of his Resurrection. This is not to go back in time; it is not a kind of nostalgia. It is returning to our first love, in order to receive the fire which Jesus has kindled in the world and to bring that fire to all people, to the very ends of the earth.” — Pope Francis, Easter Vigil Homily, 2014

He is Risen! Alleluia! Alleluia! My dear friends, Our Lenten journey has ended and we have arrived at Easter. The stone has been rolled back and new life has emerged. How lucky we are to be a people of faith experiencing the power of our risen Lord. Throughout the season of Lent, we have been deepening our relationship with Christ and that has helped to open for us the pathway to eternal life. May each of you be filled with the grace of this holy season and may you revel in Easter joy! Happy Easter. Monsignor Michael Padazinski

EASTER PRAYER

of St. Hippolytus of Rome (AD 190-236)

Christ is Risen: The world below lies desolate

Christ is Risen: The spirits of evil are fallen

Christ is Risen: The angels of God are rejoicing

Christ is Risen: The tombs of the dead are empty

Christ is Risen indeed from the dead,

the first of the sleepers,

Glory and power are his forever and ever.
