RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS The Religious Education Program is open from 9:30AM to 2:00PM, Monday thru Thursday and Monday thru Wednesday nights 6:00PM – 8:30PM. Please call 429-8824 for more information. All sacramental information is past due. The First Communions will be on May 7th and 14th. There will be two different times on both days. For more information you need to go to our religious education office. Confirmation is on May 21st, 2016 at 10AM. We will have 95 candidates on this day. Please pray for our students. For practice times and dates, please go to our religious education office. The office will be closed and there will be no class during the second winter recess from April 22nd to April 28th. Classes resume on Saturday, April 30th. Lastly, registration has started. All children attending our program received a form in class. We will have registration after Mass this weekend. Please continue praying for our students. We all need to pray for each other.
PASTORAL COUNCIL Our parish Pastoral Council is planning to add new members to the Council to begin after the summer in September. The Pastoral Council works for the ongoing development of the ministries in our parish. New members will join with our current council when it meets for its’ annual year-end review and planning for the future. Service on the council includes a monthly meeting from September through June and a few hours of committee work between the regular meetings each month. If you would like to serve on the Council, please speak with Fr. Madden.

This year’s St. Gianna Mass for couples suffering infertility and recurrent miscarriage will be on Thursday, April 28, 2016 – the feast of St. Gianna – at 6:30PM at the Church of St. Catherine of Siena 411 East 68th Street, Manhattan. Couples suffering infertility, as well as their families and friends, are cordially invited to attend Following the Mass there will be veneration of the relics of St. Gianna; an opportunity to meet with Creighton Physicians and practitioners who specialize in assisting couples with infertility; and a light reception. CONCILIO PARROQUIAL Nuestro Concilio Pastoral está planeando agregar nuevos miembros para después del verano, en el mes de Septiembre. El Concilio Pastoral trabaja por el continuo desarrollo de los ministerios de la parroquia. Los nuevos miembros se reunirán con los miembros actuales cuando el concilio se reúna en su reunión evaluativa y de planeamiento de sus acciones futuras. Los servicios en el concilio incluyen una reunión mensual, entre Septiembre y Junio y varias horas de trabajo de los comités entre una y otra reunión mensual. Si le gustase servir en el concilio, favor de hablar con el Padre Madden.
Misa de Santa Gianna – jueves 28 de abril del 2016
La Misa de Santa Gianna para parejas que están sufriendo de infertilidad o pérdidas será el jueves 28 de abril –Fiesta de Santa Gianna- a las 6:30PM, en la Iglesia Santa Catalina, en el 411 East Calle 68, Manhattan. Parejas sufriendo de infertilidad, así como sus familiares y amigos, con invitados cordialmente a asistir. Luego de terminada la Misa habrá veneración de las reliquias de Santa Gianna; una oportunidad de reunirse con médicos y practicantes de Creighton, los cuales se especializan en asistir a parejas con infertilidad y una recepción breve. Couples celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary anytime during 2016 are invited to attend the Annual Golden Wedding Jubilee mass with Cardinal Dolan at the Cathedral of St. Patrick, Saturday, June 25th at 1:30pm or Sunday, June 26th at 2:00pm. PARISH MISSION In one week, on Saturday, April 30th, our parish mission will begin. Fr. James Villa, OFM Cap., (Capuchin Franciscan) will conduct the mission accompanied by Spiritfire Music Ministry, Mary and Carman Lando. The mission runs from April 30th through May 4th. Please plan on spending these days of prayer and peace here at St. Peter and St. Mary Church.
PARISH BLOOD DRIVE Sponsored by St. Peter’s and St. Mary’s Parish, hosted by God’s TYM group, Wednesday, May 11th from 4:00to 8:30pm. In the Parish Hall underneath the church. Please bring ID with photo or signature. Eat well and drink fluids before you donate. Walk-ins always welcome.
MOTHER’S DAY NOVENA Our annual Mother’s Day Novena begins on Sunday, May 8th. Deceased and living mothers may be enrolled in this novena. Novena envelopes are in the boxed sets that our registered parishioners receive. Extra envelopes for those who need them are on the shelves by the front center doors of the church. COLLECTION FOR THE CHURCH IN CENTRAL AND
EASTERN EUROPE Next week, we will take up the Collection for the Church in Central and Eastern Europe. This collection supports Catholic organizations that provide affordable shelter and training for seminarians in a region that still struggles from the effects of Soviet rule. By providing pastoral care, catechesis, and funding for building renovations, your donations help restore the Church and build the future in the region. El miércoles, día 11º de mayo, de 4:00 hasta las 8:30PM la Iglesia San Pedro y Santa Maria, con la apoyo del grupo juvenil, God’s TYM, conducirá su campaña de donación de sangre en el gimnasio de la escuela. Por favor traiga una identificación con su foto o con su firma. Coma bien y tome mucho líquido antes de su donación.
NOVENA DEL DIA DE LAS MADRES Nuestra Novena Anual del Día de las Madres comenzara el domingo 8º de mayo. En esta novena pueden ser inscritas las madres vivas o difuntas. Los sobres para la novena pueden ser encontrados en las cajas de sobres que reciben los feligreses inscritos en la parroquia. En la parte de atrás y central de la entrada de la iglesia pueden ser encontrados sobres adicionales para aquellos que los necesiten.
COLECTA PARA LA IGLESIA EN EUROPA CENTRAL
Y ORIENTAL La próxima semana realizaremos la Colecta para la Iglesia en Europa Central y Oriental. Esta colecta le da apoyo financiero a organizaciones católicas que proveen viviendas asequibles y que capacitan a seminaristas en una región que aun lucha contra los efectos del régimen soviético. Al proporcionar cuidado pastoral, catequesis y financiamiento para la renovación de edificios, sus donativos ayudan a restaurar la Iglesia y construir el futuro en esa región.
