    Stability calculations

    The requirements as evaluated for each loading condition are listed in section Loading conditions.

    The applied stability criteria are HSC 2000 Code - International Code of Safety for High-Speed

    Craft, 2000 Resolution MSC 97(73) - Annex 7 - Stability of Multihull Craft - 1 Stability criteria in

    the intact condition.

    From Annex 7:

    1.1. The area (A1) under the GZ curve up to an angle shall be at least:

    A1 = 0.05 x 30/ (m.rad).

    where is the least of the following angles:

    .1. the downflooding angle;

    .2. the angle at which the maximum GZ occurs; and

    .3. 30

    1.2. Maximum GZ

    The maximum GZ value shall occur at an angle of at least 10.

    1.3. Heeling due to windThe wind heeling lever shall be assumed constant at all angles of

    inclination and shall be calculated as follows :

    HL1 = Pi x A x Z / [9800 x ) (m)

    where:

    Pi = 500 [Vw/26]2 (N/m2)

    Vw = wind speed corresponding to the worst intended conditions (m/s)

    A = projected lateral area of the portion of the craft above the lightest service waterline (m2)

    Z = vertical distance from the centre of A to a point one half the lightest service draught (m)

    = displacement (t)

    1.4.1. Heeling due to passenger crowding

    When calculating the magnitude of the heel due to passenger crowding, a passenger crowding lever

    shall be developed using the assumptions stipulated in 2.10 of this Code.

    1.4.2. Heeling due to high-speed turning

    When calculating the magnitude of the heel due to the effects of high-speed turning, a high-speed

    turning lever shall be developed using either the following formula or an equivalent method

    specifically developed for the type of craft under consideration, or trials or model test data:

    TL = 1/g Vo2/R [KG d/2] (m)

    where:

    TL = turning lever (m)

    Vo = speed of craft in the turn (m/s)

    R = turning radius (m)

    g= acceleration due to gravity

    The standard loading conditions referred to in the text of the present Code are as follows:

    For a passenger ship:

    1. ship in the fully loaded departure condition with full fuel, fresh water and with the full number of

    passengers with their luggage;

    2. ship in the loaded arrival condition, with full number of passengers and their luggage but with

    only 10% fuel & fresh water remaining;

    3. ship in the loaded intermediate/sail condition, with full number of passengers and their luggage

    but with only 50% fuel & fresh water remaining;

    Conclusion on intact stability

    In section Loading conditions compliance to applicable stability criteria is verified for the extreme

    loading conditions. All result pass to the requirement of criteria:

    1.1 The area (A1) under the GZ curve, min = 15.248 m.degree

    1.2 Angle of maximum GZ, min = 17.30 degree

    1.3 Area between GZ and heeling arms, min = 2.64 m.degree

    1.4 Angle of equilibrium due to wind heeling, max = 2.3 degree

    Software usedCalculations performed with Hydromax professional:

    OpeningsThe ventilation openings of tanks and compartments are will not be submersed within the range of

    inclination for which the GZ curves is calculated. All hatches, doors and windows can be shut

    watertight.

    The remaining openings can be closed by means of a (wheathertight) cover:
