Some “Do’s & Don’ts”
FAQs:
1. Will I need to pay for admission to the fair?
No. KVC has paid for your admission into the fair. You can pick
up your ticket between 7 am – 7 pm on the day of your volunteer
shift at Guest Services Booth, located just south of the 20th &
Poplar Gate (Gate #1) on the west side of Poplar Street.
This is a DRIVE-THROUGH window, so please go here BEFORE
you park! When you arrive at the window, state your name and
that you are with the Kansas Volunteer Commission. YOU WILL
NEED TO PRESENT A PHOTO I.D.!
2. Will I be given a break?
YES!! For each shift that you volunteer for,
you will receive a 30 minute break – this
includes your meal time. Please be courteous
about your time.
3. What about meals?
For each shift that you volunteer for, you will
receive $10 in meal tickets that can be used at
State Fair vendors (this is at least 2 corn dogs
)
4. What should I wear?
Proper attire is causal pants; blue jeans are fine,
and comfortable shoes. Please not shorts.
Please avoid t-shirts with inappropriate
graphics, “sayings” etc. A good rule of thumb:
if you wouldn’t wear it to work, don’t wear it
here.
5. What if I don’t know the answer to
a question?
Don’t worry (be happy)– but don’t make up
an answer!! Simply hand them a KVC or KM
business card and ask them to call or email
questions to the staff on the card.
6. Where do I go when I get
there?
After you have picked up your admission ticket at Guest
Services, proceed to a free public parking lot. From
here, you can take a free shuttle to any gate entrance.
The KVC booth is located in the Meadowlark Building
(nearest Gates 1 & 2). Meadowlark is at the corner of
Wheat State Lane and Fort Larned Blvd.
The booth number is 67 – see attached map.
The KVC booth is indoors and air conditioned!
7. Where should I park?
Please park in any of the free public parking
lots and take a free shuttle. Your admission
ticket will get you into any gate entrance.
8. What if I don’t remember
everything?
Don’t worry – we will provide you with plenty
of information at the booth. Remember, if it’s
an answer you don’t have, just direct them to
the KVC staff business card.
Also, you can always reach Nicolette at 816-
824-6987.
