STELLENBOSCH RUGBY ACADEMY: ACCREDITATION OF PROGRAMMES FOR 2018

BACKGROUND The Stellenbosch Rugby Academy was founded in 2004 in Stellenbosch. It is registered as the Stellenbosch Rugby Academy Trust (trust number IT 1478/2004). The Rugby Academy offers practical in-service training for rugby players, coaches and referees, while they study at accredited training providers in SA - such as Unisa, Intec College, University of Stellenbosch, Eta College and others; to prepare for a specific career. The admission requirement is matric and the duration of the courses are 1- 3 years. COURSES The following courses are provided:

- Certificate/Diploma courses (Unisa, Online Academy, Eta College, Intec College, exc.) - Degree courses (Unisa, University of Stellenbosch, exc.) - Rugby Coaching course (SARU, World Rugby), combined with above accredited courses

TRAINING PARTNERS We provide the practical in-service training for the following academic partners:

Unisa UNISA is a SA national training provider, accredited by CHE (Council on Higher Education). Students can do any course at Unisa – we provide following: Sport Management (qualification code 72168, NQF level 5) and SMME Management (code 72087) – 2 or 3 years; BEd (Bachelor of Education – Intermediate phase); BCom Marketing management – both 4 years

Eta Eta is a private SA training provider (reg. cert. no. 2001/HE 07/006), accredited by CHE (Council on Higher Education. The Sport, Recreation and Fitness Management Certificate is a NQF level 5 Learning programme, offered at NQF level 5, 120 credits.

Online Academy

Students selects courses from: Fundamental Workplace Skills, Computer, Management, Marketing, Selling, Human Resources, Compliance, Customer Service, Occupational Health and Safety, Life Skills and Entrepreneurship.

Intec College

INTEC College is accredited by Umalusi, the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training, www.umalusi.org.za (Umalusi Prov. Accr. No. FET 00037 PA.). We focus on: the Computer or Technical courses.

Other The University of Stellenbosch (US), Boland College and CTU are all national accredited providers.

IRB World Rugby (International Rugby Board) provides international rugby programmes, which are also accredited by SARU (South African Rugby Union).
