    03 S*ort story topics c*emical im1alance

    1magine a blind date. The guy thin!s it goes wonderfully -- ama@ing chemistry; they have

    so much in common. The girl thin!s it8s a disaster that he8s a real creep.

    Write about the date in the first person from the girl8s point of view. E.g. 1 met him at the

    restaurant at seven. ,e loo!ed... %or tips on writing in t*e first person, clic *ere$.

    Then write about the same date in the first person from the guy8s point of view.

    1f you want you could also rewrite the same scene in the t*ird person switching bac!

    and forth between points of view. Gse some !ind of indicator so that readers !now where

    the point of view is at all time. Aaybe give the man a few paragraphs then the woman

    and use a line brea! each time you change to separate the story into sections. on8t

    switch bac! and forth too fast or you might leave your reader di@@y and disoriented.

    43 S*ort story topics wife's denial

    9our character8s husband is an alcoholic but your character refuses to reali@e it. &he

    ideali@es him. The couple had a dinner party the night before and your character8s

    husband got drun! and violent. 9our character tells the story of the party in the first

    person and tries to convince the reader that what happened was no big deal.

    she cannot see so you must not use any visual details. :ocus on sounds smells touch

    even taste. This is her first time in her new boyfriend8s apartment so she is probably

    paying a lot of attention to what8s around her. escribe the apartment as vividly as

    possible without involving the sense of sight.

    =ewrite the story where the blind woman goes to her new boyfriend8s apartment but this

    time write it from the boyfriend8s point of view. The boyfriend is not blind so you can use

    visual details. 7ut don8t forget about the other senses. The apartment belongs to him so

    although he can see it he is not paying attention to the details in the same way that the

    woman is. 1t is all familiar to him. Bn the other hand he is paying attention to her. ,e is
