Strength & Conditioning Classes Revised To Include Sports Science Technology

The Physical Education Department is excited to announce that sports science

technology will now be available to their Strength and Conditioning curriculum. This

technology provides the students and instructors with Biofeedback via a software platform

that will manage the provided training. The sports science addition has allowed a

restructuring of the available classes as well as renaming them.

Foundations of Sports Performance (formerly Strength 1) will provide an

introduction of training as well as specific sport performance training.

Applied Principles of Strength and Conditioning (formerly Strength 2) will also

provide intro to training but will also allow students to expand beyond an intro level

and build their own workouts using the new technology.

Applied Sports Science (formerly Peak Performance) will be our biggest change.

This class will be offered first block - our intention is to assist our students by

providing athletic enhancement early in the day to allow for practice, work, and

studies after school. All students will have the availability of engaging in a

mindfulness/wellness practice each day based on a self-inventory that will

address: Exertion, Fatigue, Stress, Energy, Sleep, Soreness and Nutrition.

Biofeedback is collected via an app used on a smartphone or the school supplied

iPad and will determine what training is best suited for the student on a more

individualized plan.

classes, email Coach Ryan Johnson at [email protected].
