Xi Chi Sigma Presents: Sticks and Stones JamSat. Feb 4th 4pm Ballroom; DeRosa University Center

The STKs & Stones JAM is a hybrid event: a talent showcase with 12 performing groups, as well as, a dance competition with 3 crews looking !to claim our grand prize of $100, a 1st place banner, and sponsorship to Stockton's largest dance competition, Breakthrough. Joining this congregation of local talent, Xi Chi Sigma has recruited Pacific's very own talent: four Disc!Jockeys, an experienced Emcee, 2 clothing companies, Rhythm Inc. dance company, Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society, the Office of Admissions, and the Career Resource Center. In addition to the talent performances, there will be music, an exhibition from Rhythm Inc. dance, a small fashion show, give-aways, cultural blurbs, great informational resources, and jam sessions.

Violinist- Dan FlanaganWednesday Feb 1st at 730pmRecital Hall

Dan Flanagan currently serves as concertmaster of the Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera, lecturer in violin at UC Davis, coach and adjudicator for the Sacramento Youth Symphony, concertmaster for California Musical Theater, and founder and director of the Sacramento School of Music. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a master’s degree from the University of Oregon, where he was a graduate teaching fellow.His teachers include Linda Cerone, Charles Castleman, and Fritz Gearhart.

Symphony OrchestraSat. Feb. 4th at 730pmFaye Spanos Concert Hall

Conducted by Nicolas Waldvogel, the orchestra will perform several selections including Debussy's "La Mer", "Palinody for 14 Players in 7 Groups" by COM alumnus Yoshi Onishi, and two compositions written by Conservatory faculty member Francois Rose; "From a distant mountain, a Ray" and "L'ombre australe de Mineko". "From a distant mountain, a Ray" is a concerto for saxophone quartet featuring Conservatory faculty member David Henderson and the Premiere Saxophone Quartet. "L'ombre australe de Mineko", written for the University Symphony Orchestra, was inspired by Japanese writer Natsume Soseki's novel "Sanshiro". This concert will mark its premiere.

They're back--Get your hockey fix with the Stockton Thunder! ! It's the 7th season of hockey with Matt Thomas and the Stockton Thunder at the Stockton Arena!

Promotions for this weekend will include:

• Game will promote and benefit the American Heart Association's ‘National Wear Red Day’ and to kickoff the ‘Go Red for Women’ movement and ‘American Heart Month’.

• To encourage fitness and a healthy heart, the first 2,000 adults attending the "Hockey with Heart" game will receive a Stockton Thunder equipment bag.

Special Guest Speaker:Terry Reilly, Co-Founder of the Friends of the San Jose Rose Garden will lead the event. !Through the efforts with volunteers, in a partnership with the City of San Jose, The San Jose Municipal Rose Garden was awarded the title of "America's Best Rose Garden" by the All-America Rose Selections. !Come and learn the techniques to make this garden, and YOUR garden a winner!
