Why take this course?Entrepreneurship and Innovation 1010 and 1020 looks at ways to recognize and assess venture opportunities around us and generate possible ideas for venture opportunities. As a student you will study the area of business that deals with organization and management of a project, undertaking or innovation.

What do you need to know before you start?There are no prerequisites for this course. Your own desire to come prepared and that you are willing to learn in the only determinate of your success in this class.

What will you know and be able to do when you complete this course?Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to:

Recognize and Assess business opportunities around you that have the potential to be turned into ventures

Create a Business Plan that includes: Purpose, Description/Objectives, Market Research and Analysis, Marketing Plan, Production/Service Plan, Financial Plan, Human Resource Plan

Possess some of the necessary skills and knowledge in order to undertake starting a new venture or business.

When should your work be done?The approximate time for the completion of this course is 25 hours. As a general guideline, the allotted times for each activity are as follows:

for a venture that you would be interested in starting.

Project: Plan a Venture

The purpose of this project is for you to design a business plan that would have the potential to turn into something that you could potentially use in the future. This assignment will look at all the various aspects that should be included in a business plan. The project will be completed in increments and then compiled as a complete business plan at the end. You must hand the separate components at the end of assigned classes in. It is important for you as a student to keep revising and critiquing your business plan until you feel that you have a well-polished final product. Please make sure that you are including as much detail as possible. You will share this business plan with your peers and as a team evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the venture plan. In order to make sure that everyone is participating in the project you will be completing a partner assessment. Please include a Bibliography of any websites that you may have used as references for your Project.

The components of the business plan are grouped together and need to be handed in on specified due dates for ongoing evaluation.
