Key Learning
Preparing for the ENGLISH EXAMS
In this crucial unit, students revise for the English Language and English Literature examinations. For English Language, students revise the 6 questions, looking at sample answers and mark schemes. Individual feedback from the mock and from student’s sample answers are used to ensure students revise effectively using the question booklets provided in lessons. For English Literature, students revisit the two modern texts that they have studied and practise exam style responses. They also revise the poetry from the AQA Anthology (as well as unseen poetry) that they studied in Year 10 and will practise exam style responses.
Pre-exposure homework
1. Revisit the question booklets that you got in preparation for the Mock Exam.
2. Use the Collins English revision guide (available from school).. 3. Have a look at revision clips on ‘You Tube’, especially by Mr Bruff,
WCSEnglish, Mr Davies and Cheney Takeaway Teacher. 4. Reread the 2 novels and poetry from the anthology several times to
ensure familiarity. 5. Use GCSE bitesize to consolidate revision notes. 6. Practise writing exam style responses in timed conditions

GCSE coursework portfolio deadline: 24th April
Students have the Easter holidays and then the following two weeks to review and refine their GCSE coursework portfolio.
GCSE APPLIED BUSINESS STUDIES
Financial Records
Students will complete the Financial records revision programme covering the following areas:
Flow of financial documents used in business trading
Business payment methods and costs
Nature of financial statements in business
Importance of financial statements to business
Pre-exposure homework
1. Revision is essential now. Students have been given a booklet on each financial topic which contains the theory they need to learn and numerous examples of exam questions. They should revise primarily from this.
2. Students can also access exam paper and mark schemes from the Edexcel website. GCSE Applied Business. Course code 2AB01.
Exam Revision Programme
Students will continue on their seven week revision programme. The focus is to revise the following topics:
Exam 1 – People and Business (25%)
Exam 2 – Production, External Influences, Finance (50%). Based on pre-release case study.
Students have been given revision guides on each of the areas and will be expected to attend an after school revision session once a week to support their learning.

Pre-exposure homework
Students should now be revising for their examinations. They should use the revision guides provided to supplement their revision. Additional exam papers will be provided for students to practice.
UNIT 1 Exam Prep
Students will engage in a variety of revision activities to enhance their knowledge in preparation for their Food & Nutrition GCSE exam, which takes place on the 10th June.

Revision and exam preparation
Students will be finishing their controlled assessments in the first 2 weeks of this term then the focus will be on the remaining two skills- listening/reading in preparation for the exam in May. They will be encouraged to learn common vocabulary used in the GCSE exam and carry out practice past papers, focusing in particular on the tricky questions that they may find challenging. At home, students are encouraged to use the recommended websites and the revision guides to improve their knowledge of topic specific vocabulary.

1. GCSE Reading and Listening. Go onto the AQA website and practise a past reading and listening paper not already covered.
2. Vocabulary. Using post-it notes label all the main items in your kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.
Revision
Revision of all human geography – Population, Settlement, Economic Change and a Moving World. Revision of all physical geography – Tectonics, Rivers, Coasts and a Watery World. Revision of skills, e.g. map and graphical skills and Challenges for the Planet

www.memrise.com make sure you have an account registered to your email address- browse AQA GCSE German Vocabulary and spend at least 30 minutes a week working on improving your vocabulary. www.quizlet.com again create an account and then use the quiz programme to help you revise key vocabulary. Use your revision guides to revise key vocabulary on all the topics covered in your GCSE. You could input this vocabulary into memrise or quizlet to help you commit this vocabulary to memory. FROG should be used to practise past papers at home.

Revision
Revision commences immediately after this, with a major focus on Paper One & Paper Two, in terms of both skills and content. Various revision styles and strategies are incorporated into lessons, with teachers responding to the needs of individuals in their respective classes.

Exam Revision and preparation for the GCSE
Revision for the GCSE Exam.
There are two GCSE exams for RE – each one is 1.5 hours long.
The first is called ‘Religion and Life Issues’
The second is called ‘Religion and Morality’
We will spend all of the RE lessons finishing off any work to be covered and will then focus on exam preparation, technique and revision.
