Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management

Development (SDMIMD), a premier B-school located in Mysore, was

established in 1993 with the objective of providing quality

management education based on a firm foundation of Indian values

and ethics.

SDMIMD is promoted by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara

Educational Trust, a much admired non-profit educational trust that

runs over 40 recognized educational institutions in Karnataka,

including Engineering, Medical, Dental, Law, Ayurveda and

Naturopathy colleges. Under the able leadership of our Chairman,

Padma Vibhushan Dr.D.Veerendra Heggade, the trust has played an

active role in bettering the lives of socially and economically

disadvantaged people in Karnataka. The sister organisation, Shri

Kshethra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP)

empowers the lives of over 38 lakh members through 4.2 lakh self

help groups by offering microfinance, thus enabling their families to

live a life of dignity and self-sufficiency.

With a strong legacy of Dharmasthala being at the core, SDMIMD has been creating

business leaders who not only possess highest standards of professional skills, but

also are value-driven, ethical and are sensitive to societal needs.

SDMIMD's flagship offering is a two year, full time, residential Post Graduate

Diploma in Management (PGDM) program which is approved by AICTE and accredited

by NBA. The program has also been recognized as equivalent to MBA by Association

of Indian Universities.

The institute also offers an accelerated one year Post Graduate Program in

Management and a unique 9 month Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Management.

Also the institute is an approved research centre of University of Mysore for offering

PhD program in management.

SDMIMD has been accredited by ACBSP (Accreditation Council for Business Schools

and Programs), USA. Also SDMIMD's PGDM program has been accredited by EFMD

(European Foundation for Management Development). SDMIMD is the first institute

in India to get the dual accreditation of ACBSP and EFMD - EPAS. These accreditations

have propelled SDMIMD to be among the top global Business Schools and have

enabled the students to learn in an environment that is process and outcome enabled

and globally oriented.

With the intention of strengthening the PGDM program and providing students and

The flagship programme of the Institute is the two year fully residential PGDM programme approved by

AICTE, Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The PGDM programme is also accredited by National Board of

Accreditation (NBA) and has also been granted equivalence to MBA by Association of Indian

Universities(AIU).

The PGDM program is designed and structured to enable students to adapt and deliver high performance in

the rapidly changing business environment and also meet the challenges of the global business scenario.

The first year of the course provides students with strong theoretical and conceptual foundation across

different functional areas of management through core courses. In the second year, students can opt for

single or dual specialisation from amongst Finance, Marketing, Systems, Data Analytics, Human

Resources and Operations. The students have the option of selecting from over 70 electives that are

SDMIMD Student Exchange Programs

After completing the mandatory courses of the first-year, students get into the practical world of decision-making

and business management in the Summer Internship Project (SIP). Spanning eight weeks, the SIP is selected

according to the chosen specialisation of the students. They are assigned specific tasks which allow them to use

managerial concepts learnt in the classroom. After understanding the student's abilities and aspirations

thoroughly, specific projects are assigned to each in conjunction with the companies concerned.

During the internship the students work under the guidance of a senior executive of the company and their progress

is monitored by an internal faculty guide. Students keep in touch with the faculty guide on developments on the work

front and obtain clarifications as required. At the end of the internship, they are required to obtain a certificate from

the company they have worked with, stating that they have satisfactorily completed the project allotted to them.

On return to the campus, they are required to submit a detailed report highlighting the practical application of

management concepts in the work place as well as details on what they had learned in the company. Summer

Internship Project Reports are published every year in a special publication called 'Excerpts of the Summer

Internship Reports' brought out by the SDM Research Center for Management Studies (SDM RCMS).
