ICON RECAP

A cross-

continental journey

that began with a

group of strangers and

acquaintances and

ended with a tight-knit

family. Not just any

family: the K-Family.

The New Jersey District

of Key Club made

their annual trek to the

Key Club International

Convention, making

several fun stops along

the way. Anaheim,

California greeted the

East Coasters with sun,

great weather, and

plenty of fun to be

had. The Key Clubbers,

comprised of district

board members,

club officers, general

members

and even

alumni,

explore all

that Anaheim had to

offer, including res-

taurants, shops, and

yes, Disneyland. The

New Jersey District

spent two wonderful

days exploring the

happiest place on

earth and even got

to spend the 4th of

July in Downtown

Disney. The clubbers

also took a tour of

L.A., making stops at

Venice Beach, San-

ta Monica Pier, and

Hollywood. The con-

vention itself was

filled with fun, surpris-

es, reunions and

merriment. Inspira-

tional speakers all

with tears in

our eyes and a

desire to

change the

world. The two ses-

sions of House of Del-

egates were heated

and passionate, but

nonetheless, all left

as friends. With the

Eliminate Project

coming towards its

last year, the con-

vention was abuzz

with fundraising,

news and, awards.

New Jersey had the

third highest per-

member fundraising

total, showing that

teenagers, especial-

ly New Jersey teen-

agers, really can

change the world. Key Club-

bers played a part in elected

our new International Presi-

dent, Maria Palazzolo, and

International Vice President,

Kevin Zhang. The exhausted

Key Clubbers boarded our

flight memories to last a life

time.

Don’t forget to

submit your annual

dues to the officers as

soon as possible. This

small fee helps fund our

club . Getting your dues

in on time helps keep

the club organized and

running smoothly. For

the first time, Millburn

Key Club is offering

online registration to

make the process as

easy as possible!

Tribute to Our Old Officers

Karen Fich Karen also joined Key Club as a freshman and had a

huge impact on Key Club. As a junior,

she became our club’s first official

representative for the Eliminate pro-

ject. She even got her own column in

The Millburn Key called, “The K Col-

umn” in which Karen would update

Keyclubbers on events relating to the

Elimiate Project. In her Senior Year she

was voted our club’s Vice President

and was a fantastic help throughout

the service year. This fall, Karen will

be attending NYU and we know she will do great!

Sylvia Levy

Sylvia joined Key Club as a freshman and ever since has been extraor-

dinarily dedicated to this club. After two

years of hard work and participation as a

general member, Sylvia got promoted to be-

ing Millburn Key Club’s Editor. After serving as

editor, in her Senior year Sylvia became our

club’s president. Week after week Sylvia

would dedicate long hours to ensure the

success of this club. Even after the service

year ended, Sylvia strived to make the new

officers as comfortable and proud of Key Club as she was. This fall Syl-

via will be attending Georgetown. We’ll miss you Sylvia!!!!

A Special Thanks to… Shannon Peng

Throughout the Summer, Shannon Peng has

been working diligently on both the official Mill-

burn Key Club website, as well as our new 2014-

2015 t-shirt design. She demonstrated dedication

to our club by staying so involved even in the sum-

mer time. Thanks to her, the start of the new school

year will be less stressful and more organized.

Thanks Shannon!!!
