2. What was the kind of project you executed?

New live project with vendor

Dummy project for a future application

Personal Feedback Section 1. Kindly give any suggestions/guidelines for interview preparation

Very basic level of preparation required. Be ready to discuss about why ""Operations/ SCM"", why the company and how does the internship opportunity fit your future plans. No technical questions are usually asked. Pure HR interview.

2. Kindly give any suggestions/guidelines for executing summers project

Discuss about your project with your guide to get an idea about the big picture. Why is the project important? How does it make business sense? Do request for changes if you feel the project doesn't offer you much scope to learn. Set your own goals for project review. Don't get confined to just people and work related to your project. Be clear about why you are there. See if the work and the environment suit you. Needless to say, form a good network there. That will help you sail through.

Personal Feedback Section 1. Kindly give any suggestions/guidelines for interview preparation

There weren't any technical questions asked. The interview was for less than 10 minutes. The questions were more on my past work experience.

2. Kindly give any suggestions/guidelines for executing summers project

Try to approach the problem at hand with an open mind. Do not try to force-fit text book solutions to the problems. Be a patient listener and give your ears to what the people who are already in the company have to say. Study how the same problem has been addressed in other industries (similar and dissimilar).

Personal Feedback Section 1. Kindly give any suggestions/guidelines for interview preparation

It was a 3 member interview panel. Interview was based on my resume and all the questions were based on my work experience. The interview lasted only for 10 minutes and it was ultra chill. Concentrate on work experience part and nothing more is required.

2. Kindly give any suggestions/guidelines for executing summers project

Summer project will be based on your profile and their requirements. Not much preparation is needed for the executing the summer project. But it’s better to have a time plan and work accordingly, since all the interns will be asked to make a presentation to the worldwide leadership team after the internship.

Frankly, no formal framework was needed. The job required simple and plain logic.

Personal Feedback Section 1. Kindly give any suggestions/guidelines for interview preparation

The first round was a case interview; not unlike the ones normally asked by strategy consulting companies. Mine was a guesstimate. We'll have to arrive at a plausible figure for the question asked, within a limited frame of time. The second round was a personal interview. The interviewer wanted to know more about my background, my attitude towards the company and the job offering.

2. Kindly give any suggestions/guidelines for executing summers project

More often than not, the project guide will be overseas. He/she can be reached only via phone/email and that too, not throughout the day, owing to the time difference. This might lead to miscommunication, which is something we need to watch out for, as precious time could be lost barking up the wrong tree. Sticking to deadlines will be much appreciated. Also, considerable emphasis is laid on mid-term and end-term reviews. Care must be taken to articulate the work done so far in a clear and concise manner

Personal Feedback Section 1. Kindly give any suggestions/guidelines for interview preparation

Focus on Personal/HR questions

You should be able to defend/ explain whatever you have written in your resume

If you have work experience, questions might be asked about projects you handled and other relevant stuff.

2. Kindly give any suggestions/guidelines for executing summers project

I don’t feel there is any specific preparation is required for that. Just brushing up your basic understanding of relevant sector (finance, marketing, strategy, operations etc.) should suffice.

Retail Profitability, Merchandise Management, Inventory Management, In-Store Operations, Comparison: Between Franchise and Company Owned Retail Format

Personal Feedback Section 1. Kindly give any suggestions/guidelines for interview preparation

My interview mainly revolved around the resume, although some business development questions were also asked. There was a lot of stress on centralized inventory management system, in fact, the GD topic was also the same and many of the questions were focused on that. For interview preparation, I would suggest the candidates to build a story around their resume. The final round of interview was a telephonic interview with the Director (commercial - Benetton, India and SE Asia) which revolved around the resume. The key lies in confidently answering the questions you know and leading the interviewer to your areas of strength. Try and answer crispy to the point. If you do not know anything about the solution, admit it and do not globe!

2. Kindly give any suggestions/guidelines for executing summers project

My summer project required me to travel a lot. The UCB - commercial team is a very small team with a lot of opportunity to interact with the people. The hierarchy in the office is just not there and you can reach out to them easily. The project dealt with their present problems and required a firsthand experience to understand them from the roots for which I was sent to Chandigarh. Best way to complete your summer projects in time and effectively is setting a weekly deadline and be in constant touch with your mentor. Implement the suggestions and recommendations given by your mentor keep him posted on your progress.

Personal Feedback Section 1. Kindly give any suggestions/guidelines for interview preparation

In Interview, most of the questions were based on elementary management theory.(Please update yourself on terms like concurrent engineering, Blue ocean strategy, etc...) (Even Quant questions like What is Anova? How do you use regression etc. were asked) Further, based on your interest in the sector, some questions were asked (For eg - Mahindra had numerous verticals under it. If you had chosen Club Mahindra - most of the questions would be marketing related and if you had chosen Systech - most of the questions would be automotive related). Do sound patriotic in the interview. (This maintains coherence with the core belief of the Mahindra Group).

2. Kindly give any suggestions/guidelines for executing summers project

Ask for one guide/mentor. If there are multiple guides, it may turn out to be a problem. If you are interested in PPO then try to go to office before your boss. (Very Important). Never ever brag about yourself in front of C-suite officers. For summer’s project in operations, you have to overcome one major stumbling block - The companies being predominantly in the engineering field, most of the senior officers would be experienced engineers who would be afraid of accepting anything new from us. But you have to stick to your recommendations.

All Supply Chain concepts, Bullwhip effects, material availability, MRP, ERP applications, data analysis for logistics, dealership management, production planning and control, vehicle design and development. Use of spreadsheets was essential. Interviews of most of the stakeholders were held.

Personal Feedback Section 1. Kindly give any suggestions/guidelines for interview preparation

Be clear on the basic fundamentals (operations) For example, I was asked how would you identify a bottleneck when on a shop floor? Concepts of QM may sometime be also tested. For example, give me a lay-man explanation for ANOVA. Prepare on the HR questions. Your short term and long term plans, your dreams and ambitions etc. Mahindra will typically ask more work experience questions if you have one, but there seems to be no bias for work experienced candidates

2. Kindly give any suggestions/guidelines for executing summers project

Take spreadsheet modelling, supply chain course in term 3 if you can. It really helps. Chase your guide everyday for work. Persist with any info required. You'll have to chase down people to get information from them. Read up on the company and its products before going for your internship. Make friends!!! Enjoy your time.

Personal Feedback Section 1. Kindly give any suggestions/guidelines for interview preparation

There will be a psychometric test (elimination round). Consistency is the key. Be very sure of what domain you want to go to. Do not be sidetracked from that. Try to give an impression that you are open to learning and contributing to the business. Everyone knows your contribution in 2 months is limited. But your learning is not.

2. Kindly give any suggestions/guidelines for executing summers project

Be responsible. In ABG, nobody will give you daily instructions. You'll have to decide what/how much you want to do. Create visibility within the organization. Interact with other individuals as much as possible. E.g. if you are in strategy, you know what everyone in the strategy division is doing, and everyone knows what you are doing, it will go a REALLY long way in getting a PPO/PPI.
