Sunset Boulevard and a Touch of Evil

1.) Relate what was discussed in class or the text to the screening.

The text I found was from the New York Times. In this movie review done by Thomas Proyer he talks about the role that Sunset Boulevard has in film history. He describes Sunset Boulevard as a movie that is rich with a powerful written story. The film was so powerful that it made Gloria Swanson comes out of retirement said by Proyer in this review.

According to Tcm.com when Universal-International has took control of Touch of Evil away from the original owner of the script Orson Welles in 1957. This ended up the downfall to Orson Welles. Welles demanded and had high hopes for this film he wanted this film to be shot in Tijuana but needed it ended it getting shot in Venice, California,

3.) Apply the article to the film screened in class.

Each of these articles had placed a role and showing the background before movie before they becomes filmed. There are any aspects that may come to writing a screen movie. You background information plays a role on how a movie may end up. Sunset Boulevard had left a more dramatic effect because has feature in later movie and Touch of Evil did not get recognized until the later years. Touch of Evil has shown the way a movie can be put together by using fewer frames and just using angle style of shooting. The susceptive nature of Touch of Evil had given you dark side to the regular old movie scripts.

4) Write a critical analysis of the film, including your personal opinion, formed as a result of the screening, class discussions, text material and the article.

Both movies had keys example of what can happen when everything goes wrong. You needed the evil and dark drama of Sunset Blvd. It is what most of our culture comes from that the most famous directors of our time are using today to draw in the audience to see more than a black and white film but the work that goes behind completing a film such as Sunset Blvd. I have seen movies end with the dead body inside of the pool at the end of Sunset Blvd. Crime dramas such as CSI broadcast fictional crime off movie such as Sunset Blvd. Touch of Evil was more realistic because even if ti didn’t have many cuts like other movies it still gapped the attention of the views with has that the view interested and easy to follow along.
