Surah Al Waaqiah (Ayah 57 – 74)

Introduction For memorization of Surah Al Waaqiah it will be easier if we break it into different categories: Ayah 1 to 6 – Allah talks about Day of Judgment, describing it with imagery of the scenes. Ayah 6 to 10 – Allah talks about the Day of Judgment, about the Waqiah i.e. the happening

Ayah 10 to 26 – Allah tells us about the بقوونن ـ ٱٱلس

Ayah 27 to 40 – Allah tells us about بب ٱٱليیميینن ـ أأصح

Ayah 41 to 56 – Allah tells us about بب ٱٱلشمالل ـ أأصح Our attitude after learning these Ayat should be to be the first and foremost i.e.

بقوونن ـ ٱٱلس After knowing about the three groups of people we need to increase our faith and try

to among the بقوونن ـ Now in the following Ayat provide the logical proof of our. ٱٱلس

creator. In Ayah 57 to Ayah 74 Allah tells us about himself and there is emphasis on Allah’s name Awwal and Aakhir.

Ayah 57

Allah says that He created us from nothing, then what makes the human being deny his creator e.g. although it is a common sense that if any object exists then there has to be a creator for it. So how do people question our creator? Don't they see how there are changes in the universe? Allah gives detailed explanation about human beings

creations from Ayah 57 until Ayah 72, after which Allah describes about creation of food, water and fire.

Ayah 58 and 59

Allah describes how Allah has out of His mercy created human beings. Allah tells us that the human being’s initial stage of creation is from the semen, the liquid, Scientists say that the semen contains 500 million sperms while the female just has one egg for the fusion of a child. In Ayah 59 Allah questions the human being if he is the one to create the sperm? Ofcourse not. Allah is Al Awwal (The First One), the one who created the means, the initiator, the relation between man and woman who need to have the desire, passion to meet and who creates all the means, it is Allah who comes before the means! Al Awwal, anything we want we need to ask Allah to grant us the best means, and the name Al Aakhir, who will show us the benefit, Allah will show us the result or fruit of the means, Allah Awwal and Aakhir. With advancing times people have started relying on worldly things but who are the

بقونن ـ ? ٱٱلس

بقونن ـ are the ones who completely rely on Allah. They have total reliance on Allah ٱٱلس

If we turn to Allah in our heart then Allah will make the best means turn to us. We need to always Ask Allah (The Awwal) to help us and we need to only rely on Him. e.g. Prophet Ibrahim AS had a child in his old age.

Ayah 60

Here we are told that the beginning and the end are all by Allah. Allah has decreed the birth and the death. A baby who has not completed nine months can be born by decree of Allah. A sick person can continue living while a young healthy person can die. These are signs to ponder upon and these signs are proof that Allah is Awwal and Aakhir. No one can precede or overcome Allah. No one comes before and after Allah. No one can overcome Allah in two things. If Allah wills that those groups die, they will die and if Allah wants to replace those groups with better groups, no one can do anything about this. Generations replaced by better generations. When human beings disbelieve then Allah is able to replace them with better creations. The other point is that if Allah wants, if He wills He can change the creation of human being in a different form. Scholars say that He can change, transform, the way we look in Duniya or in Akhirah, Allah is able to recreate us in any other form!

Ayah 62

Here Allah reminds us the first form i.e. when the human being was in the womb of the mother. There are different stages of human beings mentioned in Surah mu'minoon. Today we are aware how the human being is created from nutfaa, alaqa, mudghaa. We should ponder and reflect on these Ayat and never be heedless about it. We should be constantly reminded of the blessings around us that are all from Allah.

Ayah 63 to 64

Allah tells us about our food in these Ayat. The human being sows the seed in the ground. Allah tells that we are one of the means to plant the seed with our hands. Then Allah questions us if we are the one to grow it or is it Allah? Human beings always rely on themselves saying that they are the ones who cultivate the crops .No! The Prophet SAW said don't call yourself the “Zarra” (grower), call yourself the sower “harithaa”. This is similar to a baby in the womb; it is Allah who makes baby grow and not the human being. The seed grows into roots - who makes it split into small bits? Only Allah does this, He takes care of the minutest detail. The more power we have, the more we rely on the means. The human being becomes arrogant and they rely on themselves then the faith weakens. Such a person ascribes

himself as a great but بقونن ـ are different as they rely only on Allah and believe in ٱٱلس

themselves being the means only. The true believer believes in the unseen, sees the signs and knows that Allah is doing everything. We must take the means but rely only on Allah e.g. a woman cannot just say I want a baby without taking the good means. Then Allah tells us that He is the Awwal and Aakhir. Allah blesses us with the fruits of our gardening, as He is the Aakhir. From beginning until end we need to have complete reliance on Allah the Awwal and Aakhir. An example is of plants who also have feelings recently there was an article where in the scientists placed some detectors near two plants and kept the two plants next to each other, then they cut one of the plant and noticed slight vibrations on the other plant as though it was in fear. Then when they approached this plant in the same manner as to cut it, they could again detect slight vibrations! Another example is when we are close to nature e,g, in garden with greenery all around us (trees, plants, flowers ,birds) we feel so blessed and tranquil. Scholars say this is because the entire creation is exalting Allah, glorifying Allah constantly. Hadn't for Allah’s protection to plants we could not eat, the grower is Allah and it Allah alone who protects from harm.

Ayah 65 -68

Here Allah tells us if he wills we will not benefit from the fruit.

ا م ـ ”means “crumbled into pieces حط

.means you will be regretful..تفكهھونن

This means if we sow seed, the plant grows and then it crumbles into pieces then we will wonder what did we do? Even a plant, which is easy to grow, cannot be saved from harm except by Allah’s protection. (There is another example of story of gardens in Surah Qalam).

means lost everything لمغرمونن

When the plants crumbles the people feel as if they have lost everything, but no we are deprived. Actually it is not major loss but it is a major deprivation of Allah mercy and blessings. Therefore we must always be thankful to any blessing that we have, be it food, which strengthens us for worship. To be thankful to Allah for blessing is shukur and if we use the blessing then it is Ibaadah (worship). Everything that Allah has created in universe e.g. moon, sun etc. are all created to make life easy for the human being. Allah wants us to be comfortable; everything is made easy for us so that we can focus on the worship about the Ibaadah. Our job in this life is to be Allah’s slave. If a person does not thank Allah for the blessings then he will be deprived from the blessing, we must always pray that May Allah make us among the shakireen. Allah says that if we are from the shakireen Allah will elevate our status.

Ayah 68 -70

These Ayat describe water. Scholars have said that we should always say Bismillah when drinking water as then we will benefit from drinking the water. There is a blessing in the water as the water molecules take a beautiful shape when we say Bismillah. We must always follow the Sunnah and drink in three gulps and pause in between. If we do not do this and drink fast like camels then this causes defects in the liver. Here Allah addresses the human beings and asks them if they caused the rains to

come down from ٱٱلمزنن. (rainy watery laden clouds) There are different names for clouds in Arabic like deema, sahaab (white clouds),

ghuyoom (dark clouds). Here Allah chose ٱٱلمزنن which means “the water laden

clouds” Allah is the originator of water and brings the sources of water to human being (spring water, rivers etc)

”?means “why are u not thankful to Allah فلووال تشكرروونن

This means we must appreciate Allah for every blessing. The Prophet SAW said that Allah is pleased if a slave praises Allah when he drinks water, we must thank Allah while eating food, this will make us attain Allah’s pleasure. When we eat and drink and then make supplications, all the past sins are forgiven,

Ayah 71 -74

After telling us about the creation of human being, the food and the water, Allah is now describing the fire in these Ayat. The origin of fire is from the wood i.e. the tree therefore Allah asks the human being if he is the ones who created the tree? Who got the idea the first time that fire was needed? It was Allah who put it in the heart of the man, the desire to have fire e.g. the inventions and discoveries who puts it in the heart? The Awwal the source is Allah. Allah created fire as a reminder for us. The fire is a reminder of the source of its creator. The fire is also reminding us of hellfire.

هھ ـ means “as a reminder” The fire of the Duniya is one part out of the 69 نحنن جعلن

parts of the hellfire Allah created this as an article for mankind to use it, for the travellers. Scholars said that we are all travelers in the Duniya so we should exalt our almighty our creator. Allah is Awwal and Aakhir, we must rely on Allah for every single thing. We need to always remember Allah for any big and small things that we need to accomplish. Allah’s names are the greatest names. They are his greatest attributes. Allah is free from all defects. Our tongue, heart and limbs should praise Allah.
