The Swiftwater Rescue - Technician Refresher course is an eight hours of instruction. This course provides the necessary review of knowledge and skills that swiftwater rescue technicians should practice every year. The course consists of 1 hours of classroom review, 3 hours of water refresher skills, and 4 hours of technician level water based rescue skills. Additionally, this course includes homework assignment to develop a nighttime swiftwater search plan. This portion of the refresher course was added because over 80% of all swiftwater rescues across the nation occur at night.

This course is designed for any responder (Fire Service, Law Enforcement, EMS, Public Works, and Military) that has completed the Swiftwater Rescue – Technician course (TNG-80Z) or other equivalent technician level course within the last two years and now requires a refresher course.
