With the growing problem of obesity in America, Obstructive Sleep Apnea is one of the fastest growing medical problems among the general public. Many people feel that as they get older, being constantly tired is just part of life. They don’t realize that spending just one night with PM Sleep Lab can be the first step in providing them with a lifetime of better sleep. PM Sleep lab has been serving the Midwest for the past 11 years with locations in Kansas, Missouri, Colorado and Texas. The closest locations to Tabor College are Newton, Salina and Great Bend. Their goal is to make the patient feel as if they are staying in a very nice hotel room, rather than in a state-of-the-art medical facility. PM Sleep Lab facilities are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care, use registered polysomnographists, and will care for your patients with the same TLC as they would their own family. February 8 “Against the Stream, The Story of Christian Survival in Communist USSR” Presented By: Mykhailo Cherenkov, Ph.D. and Family

Our world is developing so rapidly that even important and fresh lessons are forgotten very quickly and easily. The Cherenkov family will share one of these lessons. They will share their firsthand account about how far atheism can go living in communist USSR. But they also learned that even in those conditions, it is possible to remain a family, and strong Christian believers, and to remain faithful. Their family is part of this story and they want to share it with you. Their story continues, and their experience of Christian testimony experienced in a hostile society may soon be useful to all of us. How to stay true to yourself and your faith in a totalitarian society.

They will share how their journey led them to Hillsboro, KS, the important role their family has already played and continues to play in the community. How they are adjusting to life in the U.S.A. The Cherenkovs are an extremely musically gifted family and will be blessing us with a showcase of these gifts!

The Cherenkovs are a missionary family from the Ukraine. Dr. Michael Cherenkov is a visiting professor at Tabor college and Executive Director for Mission Eurasia Field Ministries. Nina, his wife was leading a Church children’s choir and other music ministries. They have four children: Carolina, Vasilisa, Michelle and Sara Stephanie. February 22“Marion and Harvey Counties’ TRUE CRIME Cases” Presented by: David Yoder, Harvey County Attorney

Harvey County Attorney, David Yoder will take us on a journey through the minds of some of Marion and Harvey counties’ high-profile criminals. He will share about prosecuting some of the most interesting cases he has handled in the last 16 years. We will exam the many complexities that are to be found in the motive for crimes. Was the victim targeted or doomed by chance? Was it planned or a sudden undertaking? Was the method crude and stupid or was it clever and sophisticated? Were the suspects many or was it someone acting alone? Were the clues subtle or obvious? Did the investigation require science or logic? Did the detectives rely on intuition or insight, acute powers of observation or just hard work? Was the perpetrator the usual, obvious suspect, or was it the person no one would ever suspect?

David serves as the Harvey County Attorney, an elected position he has held since 2002. Prior to that time he was in private practice with the law firm of Ice, Turner and Baer, and served as Harvey County’s first Court Trustee, a position he held for nearly 12 years. David is a proud graduate of Wichita State University and Washburn University School of Law, and served five years in the United States Air Force as a Judge Advocate. He has also served as Municipal Judge for the City of Newton, Small Claims Judge, and as City Prosecutor in Newton and Halstead.

David is involved in numerous organizations designed to make Newton and Harvey County a better place to live, including the Heart to Heart Child Advocacy Task Force, charter member of the Family Advocate Support Team and the Domestic Violence CCR Team, volunteering with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Newton High School Mentorship program, serves on the state board of directors of Finding Words Kansas, and has served as President of Communities in Schools, the Harvey County Bar Association, and the Harvey County Drug Free Youth Coalition. David has been a presenter in various capacities, including making presentations at PETS, presentations to numerous Rotary clubs in District 5690 on methamphetamine awareness, is a frequent presenter in the Newton Citizens Police

Academy, was a national presenter in a Washington, DC Partners For Justice program, and was the primary author of the Harvey County Drug Endangered Children Protocols. David has numerous hobbies and interests, including watching old movies, golfing, reading everything within reach, and is a fanatical fantasy football fan. David continues to reside in the town of his birth, Newton, and is active in the First Presbyterian Church, where his wife Lori serves as Secretary. They have six children and five grandchildren.
