The TATONKA Bags Side bags at head height (when lying down) are perfect for storing items such as reading glasses. Lots of models also have pockets at the foot end that are easy to reach when upright. The Polar and Alaska tents also have a removable vestibule bag plus a roof bag for small items such as a book, insect spray and so on. Care Please make sure your tent is absolutely dry when you store it after a trip to prevent damage to the coating. Tents should only ever be washed by hand; never in the washing machine. Shady pitches and groundsheets will protect the material on your trips. Entrances The entrances to inner tents of TATONKA tents are cut wide, and easy to use with one hand. The small insect windows on the Advanced and Expert series close separately. The opened entrance can be stored fully in the bag on the side, or else rolled up and secured. Frames The frames must be of the highest possible quality. TATONKA uses YUNAN tent frames because this manufacturer cares about sustainability as much as quality. YUNAN provides frames in two different aluminium alloys; the choice is determined by the tent category. Both are unbreakable and hollow on the inside, and they are connected by rubber bands so they fit together easily. Groundsheets Groundsheets protect the tent floor against damage from stones, twigs, etc. and provide insulation against damp and cold. Vestibule groundsheets mean that the vestibules can be a clean, dry storage place even in bad weather. Guy ropes Guy ropes will secure your tent against wind and weather. The advantage with a TATONKA tent: they have a roll-up device for guy ropes that makes it much easier to set them up and prevents knots. For greater visibility in the dark, the ropes on the Allround series are identified by reflective sleeves, while on the Advanced and Expert lines the whole rope is reflective. Tent pegs Our tents come with a sufficient quantity of standard tent pegs. This will cover at least 90 percent of all requirements. If necessary, you can ask your dealer about special tent pegs, for instance for sandy, hard, stony or snow-covered ground. UV rays All tent materials, especially the outer fabric, undergo an ageing process, and their resistance to tearing declines over the course of time. The main reason for this is UV radiation. Tents with a silicone coating are far more resistant than those with a PU coating. In order to reduce the risk, tents should be erected in the shade if at all possible. Vents Vents are covered openings in the outer membrane of the tent that allow the air to circulate. They can be guyed separately, and with TATONKA are made to be waterproof. Thanks to a stiff fabric band, TATONKA vents can still be positioned easily even after long use. All TATONKA tents have plenty of vents for the optimum air circulation. The vents on the Alaska and Expert series tents can even be locked on the inside. Vestibule A vestibule is a storage area between the inner tent and entrance where you can keep your luggage. It is a clean, dry place for anything that you don’t want to keep in the inner tent. Waterproofness No tent is 100 percent waterproof because water can penetrate joints, seams and zips, but it can also be diverted to outside – essential when it comes to condensation. Water column The water column indicates how high the water pressure can be before the fabric starts to allow moisture through. According to the DIN standard, a figure of 1.500 mm is considered waterproof. Loads and wear are just some of the things that a ground sheet has to be able to cope with. Although the water column is lower on a silicone-coated outer tent than with a pure PU coating, it is more than compensated for by the much higher and longer-lasting beading effect. 75 den Polyester 185T PU (100% polyester) The outer tent material has four layers of PU coating on the inside (water column 8.000 mm). It is proven to be UV resistant and colourfast. Because the fabric does not absorb water, it will not stretch when damp or wet.

70 den Nylon Ripstop 190T WR (100% polyamide) The water-repellent (W/R) fabric in 70 den Nylon is particularly air-permeable. The stronger threads running horizontally and vertically (Ripstop) increase the fabric’s tear resistance, which makes it ideal for inner tents.

30 den Nylon Ripstop 245T WR (100% polyamide) With a lightweight, air-permeable, water-repellent finish, the 30 den Nylon Ripstop material is the perfect inner tent material for the Expert series.

40 den Nylon Ripstop 240T PUSi (100% polyamide) This lightweight outer tent material is coated with silicone on the outside and polyurethane (PU) on the inside. It is highly resistant to tearing and UV rays. The seams are sealed on the inside; 8.000 mm water column.

70 den Nylon Taffeta 190T PU (100% polyamide) This is a tightly and finely woven material for very light tent f loor. Quadruple PU-coated, with a 10.000 mm water column rating.

Scandium Light 8,88 mm (100% aluminium) Very lightweight, breakproof tent frame for our Expert tent line. Adding scandium to the aluminium alloy of the standard frames increases the breakproofness by approx. 20 %, reduces the weight by approx. 30 % and increases the bending resistance to the point of permanent deformation by up to 8 %. A hard, smooth surface coating improves durability and handling.

TENT-MATERIALThe material that outdoor dreams are made of:

7001/T6 Aluminium (100% aluminium) The anodised tent frames in the 7001 aluminium alloy in hardness T6 combine high breakage resistance (brittleness) with optimum rigidity (dimensional stability). 7001/6061 Multipole (100% aluminium) For straight vertical use, tubes of 15 mm diameter provide excellent stability; tubes of 13 mm diameter are used on bends and corners.

65 / 35 Polycotton PU (65% polyester, 35% cotton) As an additional protection against wetness, the 65/35 Polycotton material is double coated with PU on the inside. With a water column < 1.300 mm, this material may not be DIN waterproof. When wet, the cotton actually swells up and closes up the weave, making it waterproof. At TATONKA the fabric is used for tarps.

Bug Beater Mesh (100% polyester) This supple, extemely fine gauze with over 1.000 holes/inch² is used for the entrances to our tents, mosquito tents and head protectors.

30 den Nylon 6.6 Ripstop 250T Si (100% polyamide) A highly tear-proof, lightweight tent fabric from our Expert series. The material’s excellent properties are due to the very high quality of the basic material (6.6 Ripstop Nylon), which is reinforced with several layers of a silicone coating (3 on the outside, 2 on the inside). Which makes it almost impossible to tear this wafer-thin material with your bare hands! 100 % water-repellent, as both sides are silicone-coated; 1.500 mm water column.

TATONKA TENT LINES

TATONKA offers tunnel tents in three different lines: strong Allround tents; comfort- and material-

optimised Advanced tents, and ultra-light, hard-working Expert tents. They are all available in

various sizes.

TATONKA Allround tents are perfect for camping in normal weather conditions. There's a

tremendous selection, ranging from one-person tents to family tents you can stand up in. The

smaller versions will even fit in a trekking rucksack.

The material characteristics of the outer tent are such that the Advanced tents are more UV

stable and durable. They are also longer with a longer inner tent and spacious vestibules. We

recommend these tents for people who camp several times a year, people who are very tall and

people who don't necessarily travel light.

The Expert tents are particularly tear-resistant, extremely durable and very light. We recommend

them to people who camp a lot, including under extreme weather conditions, and/or who want

a particularly light tent.

Stable and resistant tunnel tent. The Narvik models are suitable for two or three people. The inner tent is already suspended in the outer tent, but can be quickly detached if required. One feature that you will certainly appreciate in the rain, as the inner tent stays dry. An another plus point is the smaller rear rod, which makes the tent lighter and smaller to pack up – without having to accept any losses in sleeping comfort and area usage. Thanks to the many tension points and robust workmanship, Narvik is a reliable form of accommodation, whatever the weather.

Lightweight, uncomplicated tunnel tent in two sizes, suitable for two or three diagonal sleepers. Grönland is the tent for anyone who prefers to keep their sleeping area separate from their living area even when outdoors and yet remain compact. Porch groundsheets. These ground sheets will make your vestibule a clean and dry space where you can store everything that isn’t required in the inner tent. Available in three different sizes.

Practical and versatile. Whether as a replacement for lost guy ropes, a safety reserve or for use as a washing line: a few metres of additional guy rope are a must-have item on every expedition.

With the repair sleeves in three sizes, broken tent poles can be repaired without any problems. The sleeves are available to fit all TATONKA tent poles. Our tip: Just to be on the safe side, always make sure you have one with you when you’re camping.
