ABSTRACT. Two aenera ofmiteJ, collected from castor leaves and malrormed pOO(OOI ofmansc> tret. assoerated with tetranychld and eriopbyld mites respeedv.I, aro reponed in tbt. paper. [udOIl/U' rfcint and Indoe/romul metrutellJU are- described •• new lenera and spec/es. •

Genus IndoseJus, nov.

Dorsal shield smootb. very much smaller than Idiosoma. I.e. not covering more than two-tbirds of it : provided with sixteen pairs of setae arranged as six dorsal (01-0.). tbree median (MI-M,) and seven lateral (L1-L7) series: La approximately at the level of 0.: aU setae very short and simple. excepting OJ which Is thick and thorn like. Two pairs of scapular setae (S1-S,) on interscutal mem .. brane, which is very much widened. Sa approximately at the level of LI • S. approximately at the Jevel or. M._ Sternal shield with three pairs of setae. Ventrianal shield noC clearly defined, but can be inferred by the presence of the three pairs of preanal setae. anterior to the anus. Three pairs of equal-sized ventro--lateraJ setae on membrane surroundjng the ventrianal area. and a pair of small ventrocaudal setae. One very small pair of metapodal shields. Ptritrematal shield narrow, curved around coxa and peritreme reaching the level of first pair or laterals. Legs comparatively short and each with three macroI¢~ae. Fixed digit or chelicera multidentate, movable digit with two teeth. Spermatheca very unusuaJ, with long cylindrical vesicle, cervix filamentous, luium .hort and a 1'ery fine major duct. ,

Indbselus, sen. BOV;, re,embJe, AmhlyselflJa Muma (19SS) by iti-globular body, reddish·br4lwn colour, its active ha1>it and comparative. silo of. dorsal shield and idiosoma, but ditren in the number. size and nature of setae and In the sbape of spcrmatheca. In the arrangement of setac on ibc, posterior end or dorsal shield. and shape of the hypos tome It is near Glgpgnalhui Chant (1965). According to diagnostic formuJa of Muma (1961). it resembles KampimodfomUi nUb/til. It does not completely conform to any bown cenera and therefore tbi, is dC5eribed. as a new senus in the subfamily AmbJysiinae.

1. Indosefus rlcinl, sp. nov. (Figs. 1-5)

Female: Length 558 fL, width 480 ",. Dorsal shield 368 p. lon~, 260 fL broad and chaetotaxy as given under generic diagnosis; aU setae very small and simple, except Ol which is thick and thorn-like and slightly longer. 51 and 5, very small, situated on interscutal membrane. A pair of small metasternal shields present, each with a single small seta. Genital shield of ~h~ usual type; ventrianal shield indistinctly marked, but its presence can be inferred by the setation. Three pairs of preanal, three paraanal setae and a pair of semi-lunar pores present in this area. Three pairs of short and simple ventro-Iateral setae on interscutal membrane surrounding the ventrianal area. One pair of metapodal shields present. Legs with three macrosetae on genu. tibia and basitarsus and tibial macroseta always longest. Fixed digit of chelicerae multidentate, movable digit with two teeth. Spermatheca with long cylindrical vesicle and a fine major duct.

Genu$ Indodromus, gen. nov.

Dorsal shield reticulate; provided with eighteen pairs of setae, six pairs dorsal (Ol-D.), two pairs median (M1-M.) and ten pairs lateral (Ll-LIO); sixth lateral seta at the level or D,; lateral setae posterior to it progressively increasing in length up to La; La very small, LI0 equal to Ls. L,. La, Lto and M. plumose. Two pairs of scapular setae on dorsal shield Sl approximately at the level ot L,; S. in between L. and La. Sternal shield with two pairs of setae. Genital shield not clearly defined. Ventrianal shield constricted at the sides, longer than wide,

. with four pairs of preanal setae, in addition to the usual three preanal setae and a pair of pores: Two pairs of metapodal shields, one pair long and cylindrical. Peritrematal shield not much curved around coxa IV and peritreme reaching the level of first pair of dorsal setae. Fixed digit of chelicera with

. three' teeth pla.:ed in different planes, movable digit without teeth. Leg IV with· out macroseta. Spermatheca with rounded sac, cervix long and broad with a fine major duct.

, Indodromus, gen. nov. resembles Typh!octonu$ Muma (1961) in tbe arrangement and structure of dorsal setae at the posterior end of dorsal shield, arrangement of pre-anal setae, absence of macrosetae on leg IV and number of ietae on the sternal shield, but differs in the number of setae on the dorsal shield and structure of spermatheca. Typhlodromus Scheuten (1957), but differs in the presence of scapular setae on the dorsal shield which is also an important character for differentiating this genus from Amblydromella Muma (1961). This genus belongs to the subfamily Phytoseiinae.

Type Species: Indodromus meerutensfs, sp. nov.

2. Indodromus meerutensfs, sp. nov. (Figs. 6·11)
