CHANGE OF YEAR 10 SEMESTER TWO EXAMINATION DATE We wish to inform you that it is our intention to bring forward the date of the Year 10 Semester Two examinations. We are proposing that these examinations will be scheduled in the last week of this term, from Monday 28 th September to Thursday 1 st October. If this change of date should pose a problem for you then we would appreciate if you would discuss this matter with the Deputy Principal, John Spicer, on 4261 4011 as a matter of urgency. Peter K Jones YEAR 10 INTERVIEWS The Curriculum Panel would like to thank the parents, carers and students who took the opportunity to attend the subject selection interviews throughout the week to discuss 2010 choices. It was great to have such a high level of response from parents, taking time out of their work commitments or busy schedules to attend the interviews. This demonstrates the dedication and concern shared by teachers to help support the students as they move into their senior studies. Some student responses were: “They helped me decide on my level of English which I was unsure of.” Amy “The interviews were good because I got to talk about subjects I didn’t understand and it enabled me to ask about Distance Ed.” Kate “Helped me realise what I really wanted to do.” Tahlia The school would especially like to thank Ms Phelan for her time and effort throughout the four days of interviews. Also, we would like to acknowledge Miss Boreland and Mrs Burke for phoning and booking the interviews and the other panel members further contributions, and you, the parents. YEAR 9 PHOTOGRAPHY

EXCURSION

On Friday 28th August the Year 9

Photography class had a very

pleasant trip down to Kiama for

their Term 3 Assessment Task.

A lovely day allowed the students

to put into practice what they have

learned thus far this year. A three

hour walk around Kiama's best

spots was enough to inspire our

keen photographers.

After the hard work we sat for a

nice relaxing lunch. On our way

back home we went into the Fire

Station Gallery where we viewed a

Photographic exhibition. The

students found this very

interesting and made sure they left

a complimentary comment in the

visitors book.

A great day was had by all and we

look forward to exhibiting the

class' work in the library later on

this year.

SKI TRIP

This is the ninth year we have visited

the Snowy Mountains and experienced

some of the best snow, but the worst

weather conditions ever.

It was exciting to see snow so far

from the snow fields and the cool

conditions meant plenty of snow

was also being made.

The wind chill factor really cooled

things down and this shortened the

day for some. Others were not

daunted by the conditions and

made the most of every minute.

While most of the students were first

time skiers and snow boarders, it didn’t

take long for them to manoeuvre the

slopes and try new runs. Some more

experienced boarders even tackled the

terrain park.

Mr Kipp kept the group entertained on

the bus with his creative history lessons

and anecdotes.

We would like to congratulate the

group on their co-operation with staff

as this made the trip run smoother.

Students next year in Year 9 should

seriously consider experiencing the

snow in 2010.
