Teacher Observation and

Evaluation System

Effective August 2011

The Student Success Act (Senate Bill 736) mandates a new

teacher observation and evaluation system be implemented in FY12.

School districts must

• create their own observation and evaluation system OR• partner with a state approved vendor OR• partner with another vendor and submit for state

approval

The Robert Marzano Observation and Evaluation Systemwas selected by a committee comprised of

• teachers• CTA representatives • principals• assistant principals • district staff

Marzano’s system is based on the premise that ALL instructional

personnel are capable of improving their practice regardless of their

level of performance.

Implementation will be

• Incremental…. This is a new process….there will be a learning curve

• Supported through ongoing professional learning

We will work together as a team to effectively implement the new

observation and evaluation system.
