1. DOCUMENT OVERVIEW

This document describes the steps to be completed in order to implement a new version.

For further information on attendant set operation, please refer to "Alcatel-Lucent 4059 - User Guide" documentation.

2. NEW FEATURES

2.1. Alcatel-Lucent 4059 IP

The Alcatel-Lucent 4059 IP attendant set is a new attendant. It operates with a USB keyboard which contains the call handling features and a dedicated IP set.

2.2. Provided services

This new solution provides the same services as the Alcatel-Lucent 4059 MAC.

It is based on the same software and is associated with a post of the 40x8 & 40x9 series or IP Desktop SoftPhone for the audio part and with a new multimedia keyboard using a USB connection.

This keyboard has the same appearance as the MMK but without loudspeaker nor handset.

3. CONTENT OF THE SOFTWARE PACKAGE The Alcatel-Lucent 4059 MAC or IP software version 5.0.3 is available on Alcatel-Lucent Business Partner Web Site (http://www.businesspartner.alcatel-lucent.com/) and on CDROM with the reference 3BH 11404 ABAB.

4. CHANGES BETWEEN VERSIONS

4.1. Topology – Type of configuration

4.2. Between 5.0.3 and 5.0.2

Version 5.0.3 corrects some anomalies found in 5.0.2; see Appendix 1.

Version 5.0.3 contains the same level of correction as 4.016.10.

4.3. Between 5.0.2 and 4.016.9

This version retains the same features as the previous one. Version 5.0.2 brings the support of 4059 IP and the VIP feature; refer to the Alcatel-Lucent 4059 documentation.

5. PRE-REQUISITES

5.1. Hardware pre-requisites

The PC used must have the minimum characteristics indicated below. – Pentium 400 MHz or similar, – 15" or 17" VGA monitor, – 512 MB or more RAM, – 30 MB available on the hard disk, – CD-ROM drive, – a mouse.

Alcatel-Lucent 4059 IP requires: – one of followings sets: 4018/4019/ or 4028/4029 or 4038/4039 or 4068 or IP Desktop

SoftPhone, – a USB MMK, – a PC with a USB port (USB 1.1 minimum)

Alcatel-Lucent 4059 MAC requires : – RS232 serial port, – 2 PS2 ports.

5.2. Software pre-requisites

From version 5.0.x, Alcatel-Lucent 4059 is only running with Windows XP Professional SP2.

Alcatel-Lucent 4059 IP requires: – Alcatel-Lucent 4059 application software version 5.0.x or more, – the driver of 4059 application multimedia keyboard (USB KBD driver), – OmniPCX Enterprise Release 8.0 (G1.302) or more.

Alcatel-Lucent 4059 MAC requires: – Alcatel-Lucent 4059 application software version 5.0.x or more, – the driver of 4059 application multimedia keyboard (MMK driver), – OmniPCX Enterprise Release 8.0 (G1.302) or more.

6. HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE COMPATIBILITY

6.1. OmniPCX Enterprise software

Alcatel-Lucent 4059 MAC / IP version 5.0.3 is compliant as of Release 8.0.

The PARA_MAO8 parameter in the hardware.mao file must be set to 1.

The 4059 OPS lock (lock 44) must be set. It indicates the number of attendants that can work simultaneously.

The "mini BLF without lock BLF" application (8 supervisions maximum) included in version 5.0.3 is compliant with Release 8.0 but the supervision of sets is allowed only on the same node as the operator console.

6.2. Software compatibility

The reading and the flashing of TA/PAC box version are performed using the he_dow_tuner command; see § 11 of this document.

Upgrading the version of the keyboard is done by sending the MMK keyboard to the post sale service in order to change the keyboard PROM.

6.3. Alcatel-Lucent 4059 with TA/PAC (3AK 17095 AC)

Alcatel-Lucent 4059 version 5.0.3 used with the TA/PAC is compatible with the OmniPCX Enterprise releases and MMK keyboard versions described in the following table.

With the TA/PAC, remember to change the protocol to PAC/PC: – From the PC, click on Start/Programs/Alcatel OXE Applications/Alcatel 4059

Setup Tool,

– Click on Session configuration,

– Click on Access then Modify,

– In the Protocol field, select PAC/PC,

– Click on OK, Back, and then Quit.

6.4. Alcatel-Lucent 4059 with TA/PAC ROHS (3AK 17095 ACJA)

6.4.1. Problem

The new ROHS TA/PAC (3AK17095 ACJA) for the attendant Alcatel-Lucent 4059 are delivered with the binary mapac_2.01.

This ROHS TA/PAC contains new hardware components that are taken in account only with the binary mapac_2.01.

If the ROHS TA/PAC is downloaded (with the he_dow_tuner command) with the binary mapac_2.0, this TA/PAC doesn't work anymore because the binary mapac_2.0 doesn't contain the modifications for the new hardware components. The green LED is blinking instead of being on.

6.4.2. Solution

The ROHS TA/PAC downloaded with the binary mapac_2.0 has to be sent to the post sale service.

Note A TA/PAC that is not ROHS (3AK17095 ACAA) that contains the binary mapac_2.0 can be upgraded with a binary mapac_2.01.

The binary mapac_2.01 is available since the following OmniPCX Enterprise versions: – R8.0 : G1.302.5

6.4.3. Conclusion

Before upgrading a TA/PAC, check if this one is ROHS or not and check the patch of the system. – TA/PAC ROHS (3AK17095 ACJA): binary mapac_2.01 only.

• Do not upgrade with the binary mapac_2.0.

• If the TA/PAC is upgraded with the binary mapac_2.0, it becomes out of service. – TA/PAC not ROHS (3AK17095 ACAA): binary mapac_2.0 or mapac_2.01 can be downloaded.

6.5. Verifying the TA/ PAC box version in OmniPCX Enterprise

As the TA/PAC box version changes according to the OmniPCX Enterprise software version, you must check its version in the OmniPCX and the flash version of the TA/MAC-TA/PAC. Procedure for determining the TA/MAC-TA/PAC version in OmniPCX: – login : swinst

– option 8 : Software identity display

– option 4 : Component status

– On the question Enter the component name, answer pac

– OmniPCX answers: mapac from /users/sxb_int/ws/r_mapac_2_01

2_01 means that the TA/PAC flashing files in OmniPCX are in version 2.1.

If the TA/PAC version contained in OmniPCX is higher than TA/PAC version, you must flash it again. The procedure is described in § 11 of this document.

CAUTION If the TA/PAC firmware has been modified in a dynamic patch, the upgrade is not performed in the "Delivery status".

6.6. Alcatel-Lucent 4059 BLF

Alcatel-Lucent 4059 MAC version 5.0.3 is compliant with version 5.0.3 of the Alcatel-Lucent 4059 BLF application.

If the Alcatel-Lucent A4059 BLF application is installed on the same PC as A4059 MAC, you must disable the "Mini BLF" in the A4059 MAC application.

6.7. Alcatel-Lucent 4059 Assistant

6.7.1. Overview

The Alcatel-Lucent 4059 Assistant is a software application installed either on the PC where the Alcatel-Lucent 4059 MAC (Multimedia Attendant Console) is running, or on a dedicated PC. The Alcatel-Lucent 4059 Assistant is used as a supplement to the Alcatel-Lucent 4059 MAC. Both operate independently (there is no interaction between the two applications).

The Alcatel-Lucent 4059 Assistant provides additional configuration features for attendants working on an Alcatel-Lucent 4059 MAC. The attendant can modify the public network Class Of Service (COS) offered to a user set. The values of the public network COS (0 to 31) are used to define the authorizations or prohibitions, the set trunk group compatibilities according to the different installation statuses (night, day, ...). One of the usual uses for this is to ease the management of public network COS of guest sets in the hotel environment.

6.7.2. Installation

For the installation and use of the Alcatel-Lucent 4059 Assistant, please refer to the "Alcatel-Lucent 4059 Assistant (EN).pdf“ document provided within the Alcatel-Lucent 4059 software.

7. RESTRICTIONS

7.1. Hardware restrictions

A single application 4059 can be installed on the same PC.

7.1.1. Alcatel-Lucent 4059 IP

Alcatel-Lucent 4059 IP cannot be installed on the same PC as Alcatel-Lucent 4980 Softphone.

Any model of PC satisfying the pre-requisites agrees.

The 4059 IP attendant and the associated IP set must be on the same node.

The visually handicapped console cannot be used.

7.1.2. Alcatel-Lucent 4059 MAC

The operation of the Alcatel-Lucent 4059 multimedia application has been tested on the following models of PC: – HP Compaq DC7700 CMT, – HP Compaq DC7600 CMT, – HP Compaq DC7100 SFF/CMT, – HP Compaq D530 SFF/CMT, – Compaq EVO D510, – HP VL Series 8, HP VL 400, – Compaq Deskpro.

For the correct operation of the Alcatel-Lucent 4059 application, the Hewlett Packard - Compaq manufacturer made modifications in Bios of the models listed above (excepted HP VL Series 8 & HP VL 400) in order to take into account specificities of the keyboard of the Alcatel-Lucent 4059 application.

Business Partners can: – either buy the Alcatel-Lucent 4059 application with PC integrated at the factory, – or buy only the Alcatel-Lucent 4059 application to install it on a PC of the same model as those

above bought in the trade.

In both cases, Alcatel-Lucent ensures the Technical Support.

Com port restriction

The Alcatel-Lucent 4059 application is not supported on PCs using USB ports for keyboard and/or mouse. Also no adapter have to be used (USB or add-on board) in case of a lack of PS2/COM port.

Restriction regarding the Technical Support

If the Partner Business or the customer chooses a PC other than the models listed above, the Technical Support will not take into account problems of compatibility between the Alcatel-Lucent 4059 application and the PC. If the technical investigations carried out by Alcatel-Lucent reveal: – a software default which is not related to the hardware of the PC, Alcatel-Lucent ensures the

Technical support in accordance with its engagements in term of software corrections ; see the "Release Policy Information" Reference AL 020033139TCASA document available on BPWS (Our Offer > Pre-Sales/SE Corner > By document type > Release Policy Information),

– a default or a malfunctioning due to the PC used, there is no engagement of Alcatel-Lucent of a supply of a workaround or a software solution.

7.2. Software restrictions

7.2.1. Alcatel 4715

Alcatel-Lucent 4059 application is not compliant with the Alcatel 4715 application. These two applications must not be installed on the same PC.

7.3. Alcatel 4730/4059 Management

Alcatel-Lucent 4059 version 5.0.3 is not compliant with version 4.4.4 of Alcatel 4730 application.

In replacement, OmniVista 4760i could be used or, if there is a OmniVista 4760 server, we can use a particular profile access for Alcatel-Lucent 4059 with some restrictions on the fields.

7.4. Client PC

Alcatel-Lucent 4059 version 5.0.3 is not compliant with version 4.4.1a of Client PC application since Windows NT is no more supported with 4059 4.016.9.

The PC client (4755 DPC directory), the 4730 and the 4059 management applications are not compatible with Windows XP.

8. PC CHECKS TO BE PERFORMED IF A START-UP PROBLEM OCCURS

8.1. Keyboard type for Alcatel-Lucent 4059 MAC

The current PC supplied by Alcatel-Lucent are HP Compaq types (currently HP Compaq DC7700 CMT, and earlier PCs still compatible are HP Compaq DC7600 CMT, HP Compaq DC7100 CMT, HP VL 8, HP VL 400, Compaq Deskpro, Compaq Evo D510 and Compaq D530 SFF/CMT). Although the client can supply his own PC, in such circumstances Alcatel-Lucent does not warrant compliance with the A4059 application and the Alcatel-Lucent Multimedia Keyboard.

On the PC, it is useful to verify the type of keyboard type configured if it is not recognized on A4059 application start-up. To do this, apply the following procedure: – click on Start/Settings/Control Panel/Keyboard

– click on the tab Hardware

– the name of the device is Alcatel-Lucent Multimedia Keyboard

– the type of the keyboard is Keyboards

– click on Start/Settings/Control Panel/Mouse

– click on the tab Hardware

– the name of the device is PS2 type mouse port with multimedia keyboard

– the type of the device is Mice and other pointing devices.

8.2. Keyboard type for Alcatel-Lucent 4059 IP

Alcatel-Lucent 4059 IP can be installed on any PC satisfying the pre-requisites.

After installing the driver, the new USB peripheral must be taken into account. It must appear in Start/Settings/Control Panel/System:

– click on Hardware

– click on Device Manager

– click on USB Controller/Generic USB Concentrator

– click on the Start/Stop tab

The following screen must be displayed:

We note that USB port needs at least 190 mA.

8.3. Ethernet port

Le PC must have a single Ethernet port.

It must be declared in IP network, known and connected.

8.4. XP SP2 firewall

The installation of the Service Pack2 of Windows XP brings a firewall protecting the operating system from IP entries in particular by the intermediary of "sockets", but we use such a mechanism for the call from OmniVista 4760.

Thus if one wants to use interfacing 4059/4760 with classification since OmniVista 4760, it is mandatory: – either to inhibit the firewall,

– or to put the Alcatel-Lucent 4059 application in exception for the rules of protection.

Note Though it is, the research directory of the 4059 in OmniVista 4760 is not affected, only the entering requests are concerned.

It is interesting to note that one can open the access to Alcatel-Lucent 4059 at a specific IP address (like 4760 server) on a particular port (7777 for the call from OmniVista 4760) for a given protocol (TCP in this case) (see below):

9. INSTALLING AND CONFIGURING THE SOFTWARE Refer to the R8.0 System documentation / Attendant Services / Alcatel-Lucent 4059 Attendant Console.

For the use of popups, refer to the technical communication TC0733 Alcatel 4059 popup.

10. STARTING THE APPLICATION Once the software is installed, the Alcatel-Lucent 4059 MAC or Alcatel-Lucent 4059 IP application starts up automatically when the PC is powered on.

When a Windows application is run, the A4059 MAC or Alcatel-Lucent 4059 IP application icon remains on the desktop. By clicking twice on the icon, the application will appear on the screen.

The first startup of the application is sometimes lengthy because MSG, EXT, GUID, RDV, MESS, and FR0 type files first must be downloaded. Subsequent startups are faster because only the MSG and EXT files are downloaded.

11. TOOLS

11.1. Keyboard and TA/MAC version

TA/PAC: The keyboard must have a version 3.8 minimum and the TA/PAC must have a version 2.0 minimum.

To check the keyboard version and the TA/PAC version, follow the procedure below: – login : mtcl

– command : he_dow_tuner

– option 3 : Tools

– option 3 : Query terminal's version

If there are several A4059 MAC attendant consoles, it is better to flash each TA/PAC box one by one. The previous procedure indicated how to determine the flash version of the TA/PAC and the version of the keyboard.
