AnticipatoryIn 5th grade you learned that a triangle has 3 sides and the

sum of its angles totals 180˚A quadrilateral is two triangles put together to make 4

sides. What is the sum for the angles of a quadrilateral?

180˚

180˚Quadrilaterals sum of angles is ALWAYS 360˚

Vocabulary 6.13Write in notebook

parallel Two or more lines, found in the same plane, that remain the same distance apart

They never intersect, just like the two “L”s in parallel.

Page 7: Techno Teacher 6.13

Perpendicular Lines that meet to form right angles

Page 8: Techno Teacher 6.13

Perpendicular Bisector A line which cuts a line segment into two equal parts at 90°.

Page 9: Techno Teacher 6.13

Right Angle An angle whose measure is 90°

Plane Figure A two dimensional figure

Doodle Bob is 2-D (Sponge Bob is 3-D)

Page 11: Techno Teacher 6.13

Polygon A closed, two dimensional figure formed by three or more straight sides

Page 12: Techno Teacher 6.13

Quadrilateral A polygon with four sides

Quad means 4 and lateral means side

Page 13: Techno Teacher 6.13

360° The sum of the measures of angles of a quadrilateral

Quadrilaterals

Parallelograms opposite sides are parallel and opposite angles are congruent

All 4 sided polygons

four right angles and opposite sides parallel

Rectangle Rhombus

Square all sides congruent

four congruent sides and all angles congruent and 90˚

Only one pair of parallel sides.

Trapezoid Kite No parallel sides .

Copy this chart in vocabulary. Use color.

Remember, the sum of angles for quadrilaterals is always 360˚

So what is the angle measure for x?

As a team, decide the answer!

35˚

125˚

x˚ 80˚

Click when you have an answer to see if you are right!

Add up the 3 angles given and subtract from 360 and you will discover the missing measure!

35 + 125 + 80=240

360- 240 = 120120˚

Copy and answer the following questions in your notebook

Identify the quadrilateral. Arrows mean parallel. Hash marks mean congruent.

Find the value of x. Remember quadrilateral angles add up to 360˚.
