TED is an annual event where some of the world's leading thinkers and doers are invited to share what they are most passionate about. "TED" stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design – three broad subject areas that are, collectively, shaping our future. And in fact, the event is broader still, showcasing ideas that matter in any discipline. Attendees have called it "the ultimate brain spa" and "a four-day journey into the future." The diverse audience -- CEOs, scientists, creatives, philanthropists – is almost as extraordinary as the speakers, who have included Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Frank Gehry, Paul Simon, Sir Richard Branson, Philippe Starck and Bono. TED was first held in Monterey, California, in 1984. In 2001, Chris Anderson's Sapling Foundation acquired TED from its founder, Richard Saul Wurman. In recent years, TED has expanded to include an international conference, TEDGlobal; media initiatives, including TED Talks and TED.com; and the TED Prize. TED2010, "What the World Needs Now," will be held Feb 9-13, 2010, in Long Beach, California, with a simulcast event in Palm Springs, California. TEDGlobal 2009, "The Substance of Things Not Seen," will be held July 21-24, 2009, in Oxford, UK and TEDIndia was held November 2009. TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.) This independent TEDx event is operated under license from TED. For more information on TEDx visit www.ted.com/tedx.

Around the world, youth are leading the social revolution and sparking innovation across all industries. In 2010, TEDxYouthInspire will champion these young people to share their stories and experiences, while inspiring them to move their ideas beyond local communities and out into the world. Taking place in Accra, Ghana, TEDxYouthInspire will be an open space for the continent's youngest visionaries to collaborate and reevaluate the possibilities of creating a better global community. A one-day, participatory event, TEDxYouthInspire will use the theme "A Good Head & A Good Heart", taken from former South African President Nelson Mandela's 1995 autobiography Long Walk to Freedom, to exhibit how extraordinary youth leaders combine radical thought and integrity of spirit to set in motion unlimited possibilities for a brighter future. Remaining true to the spirit of the TED Conference – hosting the world's most fascinating thinkers and doers, and challenging them to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes or less – TEDxYouthInspire will be comprised of a mix of live talks and performances as well as pre-recorded talks from recent TED conferences. For more information, please visit our website at www.tedxyouthinspire.org.

April 10, 2010, a day of inspiration and innovation for youth We have formatted our conference to capture the spirit of a TED conference. Our four sessions will include powerful, short talks focused on a single topic or idea. No talk will exceed 18 minutes. At TEDxYouthInspire there are no keynote speeches – all speakers are equal. To allow for participants to interact and learn from one another we have integrated 30-90 minute conversation breaks between sessions. Speaker sessions will form the backbone of our conference but the topics covered by our world class speakers will generate discussions and create unlikely connections. Our schedule 8:00–9:00 Registration 9:00–9:10 Welcome from host 9:10–9:30 Screening of TEDx Introduction Video 9:30–10:50 Session 1: In pursuit of purpose 10:50–11:35 Conversation break 11:35–12:55 Session 2: Nobility of spirit 12:55–2:25 Conversation & lunch break 2:25–3:45 Session 3: The power of movements 3:45–4:30 Conversation break 4:30–6:00 Session 4: Weapons of mass transformation
