WRITING MODULE TEST 3 TASK 1

    - ROAD ACCIDENTS -

The graphs below show speed camera fines and road accident fatalities over an eight year period

since the introduction of this equipment.

These three tables show the number of drivers in Britain who have been caught driving too fast by

    speed cameras.

It can be seen that the number of drivers caught driving too fast have constantly increased from

200.000 in the first year to almost 1.600.000 people in 8thyear.

However the level of road accidents didnt go down as it can be seen in the second graph. The

number of people killed in road accidents is placed between 3.000 and 3500.

It can be deduced that the situation of road accidents didnt change and installing speed cameras on

the road was not the right solution.

Comparing the results of the survey, we can see that 60% of people dont think that speed cameras

reduce the number of accidents. According to the survey results, the main reason for installation of

speed cameras it is just to raise revenue.

As a conclusion, installation of speed cameras is not the solution to reduce road accidents. The

British attitude regarding speed cameras is the same as 8 years ago.
