TEXAS PRIVATE PROGRAM Barry Bogle is the Owner and Manager of Southwest Investigations Group, a full service Investigations Company located in El Paso, Texas. Mr. Bogle retired as a Lieutenant from the El Paso Police Department in 2005 after nearly 30 years of service, spending much of his career committed to criminal investigations and training. He also spent five years as part of the Federal Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCEDEFT) in the El Paso / Juarez region. He continues his association with law enforcement as an Adjunct Criminal Justice Instructor with El Paso Community College, the University of Phoenix and Troy University. BARRY BOGLE INSTRUCTOR Schedule Course: 12PPPI3001 Date: Feb. 7 – June 20, 2012 Day/Time: Tu - Th, 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm Meetings: 56 Fee: $2,500.00 Class location: SIG Training Room, 1790 Lee Trevino, Suite 404 (corner of Lee Trevino and Trawood). One or two Saturday classes will be scheduled for practical training exercises. About the Program: The TPI program consists of 224 hours of face-to-face instruction in investigations that meet State of Texas requirements under Section 1702.114 of the Private Security Act. Those who successfully complete the program will be eligible to sit for the Manager’s Examination, Class A License, Private Investigations Company, in the State of Texas. The program encompasses all aspects of investigations and is applicable for all private and public (law enforcement) investigators regardless of their current level of knowledge, skills or abilities. Prior investigations experience or training is not required. Graduates of the program will not be required to establish proof of three consecutive years of full-time investigations experience, normally required for the Manager’s License. Course Details: This is a hands-on program that will immerse the student in the role of an investigator. Students will explore all facets of civil and criminal investigations and techniques. Major modules of instruction: Professional Standards and Ethics Texas Private Security Bureau Rules & Regulations U.S. and Texas Constitutional Law Texas Law and Procedure Investigations (Criminal and Civil) Interpersonal Communications Surveillance Techniques Examples of subjects covered: Physical and electronic surveillance Background investigations Collision reconstruction Photography and video skills Computer and internet security Voice stress analysis and polygraph Interviewing and interrogation Surveillance driving skills Instructor Backgrounds: The instructors include practicing attorneys and public defenders, college professors, law enforcement professionals, private investigators and security professionals. Every instructor/presenter in this program is a qualified expert in their field. How to Register: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, with no Class A misdemeanor or a felony convictions, Certain Class B misdemeanor convictions may exclude the applicant from enrollment if they are less than five years old. Applicants must submit to a background screening prior to acceptance to determine eligibility. The curriculum is presented in nine major topic areas: Program Overview, Professional Standards and Ethics, Texas Private Security Bureau Rules and Regulations, U.S. and Texas Constitutional Law, Texas Law and Procedure, Investigations (Criminal and Civil), Interper-sonal Communications, Surveillance Techniques and Program Review. Students will have the opportunity to explore all facets of civil and criminal investigations and techniques. This program is hands-on and will immerse the student in the role of an investigator. Physical and electronic surveillance, background investigations, collision reconstruction, photography and video skills, computer security, internet security, voice stress analysis and polygraph, interviewing and interrogation, surveillance driving skills are examples of subjects covered in this program. The instructors include practicing attorneys and public defenders, college professors, law enforcement professionals, private investigators and security professionals. Every instructor/presenter in this program is a qualified expert in their field. The program is a dynamic and exciting one. Even experienced investigators can benefit from the training this program offers. The Texas Private Investigator program has been designed to coincide with UTEP's Spring and Fall Semesters. The first program will begin on Febraury 7th, 2012. The program consists of a minimum of 224 classroom contact hours. Classes are scheduled in four-hour blocks of instruction, from 6 PM to 10 PM, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, comprising 56 class periods. The classes will be held at the SIG Training Room, 1790 Lee Trevino, Suite 404 (corner of Lee Trevino and Trawood, East Side of El Paso). One or two Saturday classes will be scheduled for practical training exercises. These dates will be announced during the latter part of the program. The program end date and graduation is scheduled for June 20, 2012. Application Requirements: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, with no Class A misdemeanor or a felony convic-tions, Certain Class B misdemeanor convictions may exclude the applicant from enrollment if they are less than five years old. Applicants must submit to a background screening prior to acceptance to deter-mine eligibility.
