Thank you to everyone entering photos in the competition—what a virtual zoo we’ve made! Thanks to everyone that’s
helped too—Karina Rooney for being my ‘checker’, Jenni Burgess Thomas for arranging prizes from the Labrador rescue,
and Mike Woods for agreeing to give £100 of prize money from his budget. Thanks to Stephen Braddick for an amazing
surprise once all the results have been announced! And thank you also, to my group of ‘spot prize’ judges.
Huge thanks to our sponsors: Jollyes St Helens, Va Va Zoom Photography and Sue Simpson. If you haven't yet made a
donation to Labrador Rescue North West Centre then please do here https://www.homealabrador.net/fundraising.html
Every penny counts
Final thanks to everyone that shared photos of your amazing animals—what a vast array we have! The photos have
brought enjoyment to all that have looked at them, which was important at this time, and I’m sure you’ve entered to
share the joy they bring. They really are all winners, and I wish I could pick them all— I do hope you see prizes as a bonus
and aren't disappointed if you don’t win, chances are yours was on my shortlist and only just didn’t get placed. It’s very
subjective and I’ve looked at both the quality of the photo as well as the ‘wow’ and ‘ooooo’ factor of the animal shown.
Some of the photos really stuck in my mind, although I did change my mind a lot in some categories! It was so hard choos-
ing some of the placings, and as we had more prizes donated I was able to split the ‘other animals’ into 2, and also
‘lockdown lounger’ and ‘other pets’—so there are 12 podiums to announce! I took so long debating between 2nd and 3rd
place that I decided to have 2 runners up instead!
Prizes are awarded for 1st place in each section, spot prizes and the overall best in show, runner up and 3rd place overall!
I had such a difficult job picking 1 overall best in show winner, VaVa Zoom have kindly agreed to give a 2nd photo shoot as an
Overall best in show runners up prize! Amazingly kind!
Prizes are detailed on each ‘1st place podium’ or ‘spot prize winner’ and include either:
TOTE bags made by Sue Simpson (linked to Labrador Rescue NW)
£10 amazon vouchers donated by Winstanley College
Winners Rosettes donated by me (I couldn’t resit!)
Dog, Cat and Puppy food donated by Jollyes Pet Superstore St Helens
Overall best in show and overall runner-up both win a photo shoot at Va Va Zoom Photography in Ormskirk—the
shoot can be of anything, animals, family, both, anything at all.
A platinum dog groom at Jollyes Pet Superstore St Helens
1st places and runners up will get an e certificate….
Results will be announced on Teams initially a few at a time, and once all have been revealed the full results will be posted on
the college website too.

How many dogs can you fit on a chair? not
enough, not even on this really big chair, you’ll
just have to buy a footstool too! I just totally love
this photo, it caught my eye, not just for the heap
of dogs in it, clearly very very close but I thought
the quality of the photo was awesome too. Love

From left to right: Rio, Daisy, Vinny, Snowy, Tuffy.
The colour in this photo made it stand out and
the love between Snowy & Tufty who are parents
to Vinny caught my eye too. Gorgeous!
Ollie’s colours caught my eye as well as the quaint head tilt, and when I saw the photo was
in the ‘best friends’ category I thought how amazingly close Ollie is to Katie. Great photo

Brightest animal -
Princess—Ashleigh
Holmes
Prize: Tote bag
The colourful birds caught my eye, however I
delegated to my daughter Olive, who chose Prin-cess because she is literally a glowing cat god-
dess in this picture. Bow down before her magi-cal majesty. Ice Queen. She takes no prisoners
Judge: Marilyn and Olive Audsley
Happiest animal -
Nanda - Karina Rooney

Nanda really caught my with her big beaming
smile and beautiful bright eyes! She looks like
she's firmly landed on all four paws in her new

Animal I most want to
take home -
Luna—Ashleigh Holmes
Prize: Dog food donated by Jollyes
She's a daschund puppy I don't have any other reason for it.....seriously SO FREAKING CUTE! I
would take her in a heart beat. She looks incredi-bly sweet, adorable and relaxed and I'm sure she
gives the bestest cuddles!
Judge: Karina Rooney
Animal I most want to
take home -
Nellie - Ellen Arnold
Prize: Tote bag
Such a beautiful black cat. Her coat is so shiny and I adore
her regal pose. Black cats are less likely to be adopted be-
cause of their association with the Ancient Roman god-
dess, Diana, who was known as the 'Queen of witches' and
black cats were said to be her familiar (animal protector).
So glad someone adopted her. Also, black cats apparently
don't photograph well, but this is a beautiful photo of Nel-
lie. Judge: Silvia Marques
Animal I most want to
take home -
Amber - E Kelty
Prize: Tote bag
Because fetch would NEVER get bor-ing with Amber!
Judge: Emma Speziale
Animal I most want to

Koko - Shiza Kashif

What a cheeky and colourful little charac-ter, looks like he can really hold a conver-sation!
Judge: Louise Tipping
Animal I most want to

I had my heart set on Smudge from the
start she is beautiful and similar to my ba-
by Felicity. I want her but you’re lucky cos
Mummy says no!
