Thanksgiving Turkey Dishcloth

Skill: Easy Size: About 11½” wide and 8 long. Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn: Multico-lor – 2 oz, 100 yd (60 g, 92 m); Beige- 1 oz, 50 yd (30 g, 46 m) Small amounts Brown, Pink and Maroon. Yarn Needle.

Crochet Hook: Size H-8 (5.00 mm)

JOINING WITH SC When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

Special Stitches Shell: 9 dc in same st or sp indicated.

DISHCLOTH

Feathers Row 1: With Multicolor, ch 14, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 2 ch, hdc in next 4 ch, sc in next 4 ch. (12 sts) Row 2: (Right Side) Ch 1, turn, working in back lps only, sc in next 4 sts, hdc in next 4 sts, dc in next 3 sts, Shell in last st, (mark 1st dc of shell), sl st in same ch used by first dc of Row 1. (21 sts) Finish off and weave in ends.

Pattern Rows Row 3: With wrong side facing, working in front lps only, join Multicolor with sl st in marked dc of shell, ch 3, dc in next 3 sts, hdc in next 4 sts, sc in next 4 sts. (12 sts) Row 4: Ch 1, turn, working in back lps only, sc in next 4 sts, hdc in next 4 sts, dc in next 3 sts, Shell in last st, (mark 1st dc of shell), sl st in marked st of previous Feather. (21 sts) Finish off and weave in ends. Rows 5-26: Rep Pattern Rows 3-4 until there are 13 Feathers. At the end of Row 26, finish off and weave in ends.

Body Rnd 1 (Right Side): Starting at Head, with Beige, ch 4, sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 2 (counts as first hdc now and throughout), 9 hdc in ring; join with sl st to first hdc. (10 hdc) Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in same st as joining, 2 dc in each hdc around; join. (20 dc) Row 1: Ch 2, 2 hdc in same st as joining, hdc in next 3 dc, 3 hdc in next hdc. (9 hdc) Leave remaining sts

unworked. Row 2: Ch 2, turn, hdc in first hdc, hdc across to last hdc, 2 hdc in last hdc. (11 hdc) Rows 3-6: Ch 2, turn, hdc in each hdc across. Rows 7-8: Ch 1, turn, hdc dec, hdc across to last 2 sts, hdc dec. (9, 7 hdc) At the end of Row 8, finish off leaving long end.

Feet With right side facing, join Beige with sl st to 2nd hdc of Row 8, * (sc, hdc, 2 dc) in next st, (2 dc, hdc, sc) in next st, sl st in next st; rep from * once more. Finish off and weave in ends.

Beak With Pink, ch 4, 3 dc in 4th ch from hook. Finish off leaving long end.

Wattle With Maroon, ch 12, sc in 2nd ch from hook and next 6 ch, sl st in next 4 ch. Finish off leaving long end.

Finishing - Sew Beak and Wattle to Body. - With Brown and yarn needle, embroider French knots for eyes. - Sew first four Feathers on either side to outer edge of Body. Sew Head on top of feathers.
