Tom Sawyer lived with his aunt and with his half-brother near the Mississipi

river in the USA. Tom liked swimming in the river so much that he missed school .His

aunt found out that he hadn`t gone to school that day and, consequently, grounded

him. She sent him to his bedroom without dinner. Naughty Tom tried to escape going

down the water pipes, but he was discovered by his aunt and he had to go back to his

bedroom .

The following day, the punishment was to paint the house fence in white. Tom

found a scheme and didn’t paint the fence and still received many “valuable” objects

from his schoolmates who ended up painting the entire fence.

(Tradução) Tom Sawyer vivia com a sua tia e com o seu meio-irmão perto do Rio Mississípi,

nos Estados Unidos da América. O Tom gostava tanto de nadar no rio que até faltou à

escola. A sua tia descobriu que ele não tinha ido à escola naquele dia e,

consequentemente, castigou-o: enviou-o para o seu quarto sem jantar. O malandro do

Tom tentou escapar, descendo pelas caleiras, mas foi descoberto pela sua tia e teve de

voltar para o seu quarto.

No dia seguinte, o castigo foi pintar de branco a vedação da casa. O Tom

descobriu um estratagema e não a pintou, tendo, inclusivamente, recebido muitos

objetos “valiosos” dos seus colegas de escola que acabaram por lhe pintar toda a

vedação.
