    rehabilitation.

    of our Philippine Constitution, having

    been elected delegate to the Constitutional

    convention in 1934 and 1971.

    Convent ion

    Dr. Araneta was among the 202 delegates

    elected to the convention tasked to draft the

    Constitution that had to be approved by the

    President of the United States after which, thesame had to be ratified by the Filipino people in

    the plebiscite.

    He authored and supported proposals which

    found their way in the fundamental law.

    His greatest disappointment was the defeat of

    his proposal pertained to the Filipinization of

    the Retail Trade.

    Dr. Araneta and the 1971 Const i tu t ional

    Convent ion

    Dr. Araneta, a candidate from the municipality

    of Malabon was among the 302 delegates elected

    to the 1971 Constitutional Convention.

    He was elected Chairman of the Committee on

    Human Resources and was also a member of

    Sponsorship Council.

    The Beginnings of the Philippine

    Constitution Association, Inc (Philconsa)

    The approval by the Securities and Exchange

    Commission of the incorporation papers on

    September 26,1961 marked the official and legal

    birth of the Philippine Constitution Association,

    Inc.

    Dr. Araneta was elected as the first president of

    Philconsa.

    s a Nationalist By nationalism, Dr. Araneta meant it to include

    the culture of our race and its traditions should

    be preserved, a culture which stresses family life,

    decency and purity in our womanhood, love ofparents, respect for elders, a deep sense of moral

    order and an afterlife, great hospitality, ans a

    simple and unaffected way of life.
