1The PresidentThe President is the public face of AIA

Sets the overall theme for his or her term

Has overall responsibility for all activities in the public eye

2The First Vice PresidentThe First Vice President / President Elect has specific duties (chair of Grassroots)

The First Vice President / President Elect also assists the President as needed

3The CEOThe Chief Executive Officer is responsible for day to day operations

The CEO is primarily responsible for staff and has overall responsibility for integrating all aspects of AIA operations

4The Vice PresidentsEach Vice President is responsible for a specific area under the overall Strategic Plan (Advocacy, Community, Knowledge, etc.)

Vice Presidents are responsible for developing innovative ideas within their specific area of responsibility

5The TreasurerThe Treasurer is obviously responsible for the money

Within the parameters set by the board and the by-laws, the Treasurer develops and maintains compliance with the budget

6The SecretaryThe Secretary is responsible for integrating the efforts of the overall executive committee

A good Secretary will endeavor to make operations a smooth, effective and seamless as possible

7The By-LawsThe by-laws are the primary governing document for the Institute

The Secretary is a custodian of the by-laws, minutes, and overall Institute records

8An Effective SecretaryAn effective Secretary is a problem solver

To effectively implement Institute policy, a Secretary must possess and apply creative problem solving skills to the day to day operations

9The Executive Committeeas a WholeThe executive committee is comprised of several positions each of which require creative vision

The best vision is useless unless it is effectively implemented

Your Secretary must be equipped to shoulder that implementation responsibility

10My Role as SecretaryMy role as your Secretary will be to ensure effective and efficient implementation

Each member of the Executive Committee refines the overall goals established by the Strategic Plan within his or her specific area of responsibility

However, the overall vision for AIA is set by the Strategic Plan the Strategic Plan is your vision for AIA

11My Vision for AIAIn order for the Executive Committee to function effectively, every member can not assume the role of broad visionary

However, please do not mistake that statement for a lack of vision

My vision for AIA quite simply put is your vision for AIA a vision expressed in the Strategic Plan and refined by your elected leadership implemented as effectively and efficiently as possible
