THE CFS WEEKLY “GROWING AND LEARNING TOGETHER” To Parents and Carers, Hello CFS Family Continuing on from my thoughts last week about behavior, we have been talking to our stakeholders and seeking input from everyone and anyone who cares to talk to us. There is a general concern about the attitude of many of our children to working and making an effort. Teachers have been closely monitoring the amount of work completed in class and students who fail to make sufficient effort are kept in at recess and lunch time. Recess and Lunch time “catch-up” sessions are managed by Mrs. Rawlings and I. It is an engaging, supportive yet disciplined environment where the children are encouraged to complete the work they should have completed in lesson time. We are also be working with each child to determine what the blockers are for starting and completing work in class, taking advantage of our combined 50 + years of teaching experience. We appreciate that each child has their own unique challenges and we strive to work with your child to improve their resilience, concentration and persistence. We will be continuing to increase the rewards for students who we observe to be making a concerted effort in class. Henry Ford once said “Quality means doing it right when no one is looking.” It is the children who do the right thing automatically that we will be rewarding and encouraging. It’s one thing to start working when the Principal enters the room, but to get stuck in without being told to is the standard we aspire to, for all our children. None of my comments are meant to be taken as being derogatory. We have a fabulous cohort of children at this school, and staff surveys have revealed just how overwhelming the sense of pride and belonging is for all staff at CFS. Our staff want to be here and they love working with the children. The current trend of “dogging” work is a minor blip on an otherwise clear radar screen. It is exacerbated by a long school term and the sudden rise in temperature. Like all of our challenges, we meet it head on, develop appropriate and intelligent responses, and get on with the job. As always, if you would like to discuss this or any other issue, drop in and see me. Next week we have parent teacher interviews. I urge you to make the time to come in and discuss your child’s progress with their teachers. These interactions are vital if we are to meet your needs and expectations, and support your child’s learning. Have a great week. THE CFS WEEKLY “GROWING AND LEARNING TOGETHER”

To Parents and Carers,

Hello CFS Family

Continuing on from my thoughts last week about behavior, we have been talking to our stakeholders and seeking input from everyone and anyone who cares to talk to us.

Henry Ford once said “Quality means doing it right when no one is looking.” It is the children who do the right thing

automatically that we will be rewarding and encouraging.
