DON’T WAIT ANY LONGER

Do you find it difficult to wait? Probably the most anticipated event of the year is Christmas. When my children were small they began waiting for Christmas as soon as Halloween was over. Santa Claus, gai ly decorated gift boxes, and sparkling lights all increase our anticipation of the big day. Even as an adult I find it hard to fall asleep Christmas Eve, anticipating the joy I will have when my children open the gifts I have given them. And then - in 24 hours it’s over, all that rushing around, shopping, gathering of relatives, c ooking, all of the preparation - for one day of reward. Santa has been and gone and was it worth the wait? Then we wait for the New Year!!

When all the waiting is over do you feel satisfied or do you feel disappointed? Do you feel joy? It’ s not uncommon for people to be depressed during all of this celebration and anticipation. When all of the decorations and gifts are put away do you still feel like you’re waiting for something?

Do you know there is a season dedicated to waiting? It is called Advent and it is dedicated to waiti ng for the Greatest Gift of all. This gift is free to all who accept. That’s it, no strings attached, no survey s to complete, just yes. This gift is Jesus, the reason we celebrate Christmas. He is the only Son of God the Fathe r who gave Him to be born and die to carry our sins to the cross, to make it possible for us to spend eternity in heaven. Who could love you enough to die for you? In the Bible, John 3:16 says, “For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but hav e eternal life”. Jesus was born once to die and be resurrected. Then He went back to heaven to be with His Father until He returns to us.

This is Advent, the season we celebrate waiting for Christ to return and take us with Him for eterni ty. Are you waiting for an eternity you are not sure of? Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short o f the glory of God.” This gift is free because Jesus already paid for your transgressions with His life. If you wan t to feel real joy knowing your sins are forgiven and you will spend eternity in paradise all you have to do is say yes to Jesus. You can ask Jesus into your heart right now. Just say the following prayer and know for sure what aw aits you is heaven.

“God, I know that I am a sinner but I know that You have forgiven me. I trust in Jesus Christ, your gift to me, as my Savior. I believe He died for my sins. I

want Him to come in to my heart and be my personal Lord and Savior. Amen.”
