Day 3: Picketts ChargeOn the 3rd day of the battle, Lee orders 15,000 men under Gen. George Pickett to assault the center of the Union line. They must cross a half mile of open ground to get there.
Casualties after 3 days at Gettysburg Union: 23,000; Confederacy: 28,000. Gettysburg permanently turned the tide of the war for the North. From that point on Lees army was hurting.
